Man arrested for robbing elderly woman in her apartment

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 27-year-old man on suspicion of threatening an elderly woman with a knife and stealing 70,000 yen in cash.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 3 p.m. on Nov 30, Fuji TV reported. The suspect, Masafumi Kurimoto, a construction industry worker from Ibaraki Prefecture, is accused of breaking into the apartment belonging to a woman in her 80s in Toshima Ward.

The woman told police the man threatened her with a knife and said: “You have 30 million yen, don’t you?” He managed to steal 70,000 yen and flee.

Before the break-in incident, the woman had been a victim of a scam in late October when a man posing as a post office employee visited her and stole her ATM card. Police are investigating whether Kurimoto and the man involved in that theft are part of a gang.

Poor lady, she needs to get one of these best friends ever a German shepherd or Dobermann.

I've lived with both, love both breeds, but I doubt I'd be able to keep up with one if I were in my 80s. Both breeds need a lot of exercise.

She'd need to have someone young(er) and fit to live in or come in every day to take care of the dog.

how else would he know that this lady keeps wads of cash in her house? Also, not trying to victim blame here but why was she keeping that much money at home??

70,000 is not 'wads of cash'.

Perhaps. But I think a pitbull or a Tosa Fighting dog would be better. Scum dont mess with them.

Yes, that’s the point here, he’s got a job but still needs to rob money to make ends meet.

To make ends meet or to play pachinko? Plenty of people are getting by with small incomes without robbing old ladies.

"Highly probably there’s more to come like this"

Yes sir,

iniquity stacked upon iniquity, until the "curses overtake their land."

Yes, that’s the point here, he’s got a job but still needs to rob money to make ends meet. Highly probably there’s more to come like this, regardless of those new capitalism attempts. In fact, too many things already go wrong in principle, so it won’t be fixed so quickly with only some cosmetic manifesto papers or political intentions. Look, let’s very optimistically say, all like him get soon their proposed 4% wage hike. Yes, exactly, then he still needs as very low middle class to rob 65000 or 60000 from that old lady instead of 70000 , and not so much is changing on such or similar issues.

There's a high possibility that he may be connected to the stolen ATM card because how else would he know that this lady keeps wads of cash in her house? Also, not trying to victim blame here but why was she keeping that much money at home?? That's just asking for trouble no matter what country you're in. Hope the lady recovers from this shock and trauma.

I feel terrible for the woman. I really hope she recovers. It is a shock that this could ever occur in Japan because my understanding is that Japan, along with neighboring Taiwan is one of the safest countries in the World for anyone regardless of shape, size and gender. A total shock that this could occur in Japan.

There is NEVER an excuse to commit any kind of crime especially violent crime as the goal is for all of us to live in the image of God. That being stated, I am curious, if Masafumi Kurimoto has a job, why does he need to rob anyone!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

and a pathetic excuse for a human

A lot of these fools around in the news these days.
