Man arrested for scalding 8-month-old daughter with boiling water

Police in Tokyo said Monday they have arrested a 23-year-old man after he scalded his 8-month-old daughter's face with boiling water.

According to police, Tetsuya Sato, an unemployed resident of Machida, abused his daughter at their apartment on Jan 29. TBS reported that when Sato's wife returned home from work, she saw the injury to the girl's face and took her to a hospital.

Police said Sato has admitted to scalding his daughter with water from the bathtub, which was 70 degrees Celsius.

TBS quoted police as saying that the child had signs of bruising and scarring on many parts of her body.

In May of last year, Sato was also arrested for assaulting his wife, but received a suspended sentence.

I hope the mom learns from this lesson and takes herself and her baby far away from this abusive man, before he kills one or both of them.

The heck! Bring this guy in jail and scald his brain.

What sort of mad man has 70c baths?? How does a bath even get up to 70c??

My tap water has a maximum of 47 C for good reason.

And this is just another example of why domestic violence and abuse should be taken more seriously. If the justice system had punished this man with jail time, he wouldn't be anywhere near his daughter for this to occur.

For the love of Pete! What the hell is wrong with this guy?! I mean, who does that?!? The child is 8 months old! AAAAAAARRRRRGH!!!

Child abuse and the motivations behind it complete escape me, something for which I'm eternally grateful. Because if I ever found myself empathizing with the amoral a-holes who hurt children, I'd throw myself off a bridge.

Disgusting excuse for a man/father/husband/human.

Child abuse is rampant here lately and in the news daily, these less than animal Bstards that beat , burn, kick, punch, kill children are filth and they should be shown no mercy when it comes to sentencing, society should not tolerate the abuse these r soles dish out to the young.

Child abuse is the only time. Would support 'an eye for an eye' punishment.

Japan needs to wake up and take these crimes seriously, when you kill or batter your family you recieve suspended sentences, it's not good.

Sato was also arrested for assaulting his wife, but received a suspended sentence.

What a work of art - beating your then pregnant wife, and then later burning and beating your infant daughter. Warning signs were clearly ignored by a lot of folks.

@Jason Santana

Suspended sentence!!! Really???!!

Unfortunately yes... this is Japan. However, it's still a vast improvement over what it was when I and my children were in a similar situation... In those days, it was "no touch" for the police.

This guy is "unemployed" ? So his wife is earning a living for this family ? Since there are so few "Day-Care" centres in Japan, it would be better if HE found a job and left his wife to take care of the baby. They need a lot construction workers up north...

I think the world would be better off without this person on it. I hope the authorities act decisively to punish him.

they have a 3 year old son and 1 year old son as well - this guy actually took the baby to the bathroom and placed her face under the faucet, and ran the 70C degree water directly to the baby's face. He wasn't working and as home playing games all the time, his comments on his twitter were full of complains about the baby, she doesn't sleep so he can't play games, she cries and she doesn't like daddy..

Tetsuya Sato, an unemployed dirtbag, lowlife, loser resident of Machida that should have read.

what is this world coming to?

I agree with Disillusioned. When people abuse defenseless children..the eye for an eye law should come into effect.

Guys vote for me for the next Japanese PM and I would pass that law!

Child abusing swine

So as he was on a suspended sentence and committed the crime again, I am hoping that now means jail time?

0 ( +0 / -0 )

Judges, don't let him get away with this horrible crime. Let's put him in jail in The States, and let his fellow inmates know what he did. Then you'll see justice.

That suspended sentence really showed him, i'll bet he was full of remorse!

Beyond words-I hope someone avenges this child and I Don't mean Court, that's law,Justice in this case must be up close & personal.
