Man arrested for scalding son with boiling water

23 Comments

Police said Tuesday they have arrested a man who threw boiling water at his 12-year-old son at their home in Hironoku, Osaka. The boy sustained severe burns which will take about three weeks to heal, police said.

According to police, the attack took place on Monday at about 8:30 p.m. The suspect, Yasunori Saeki, 56, has admitted to the charge, Fuji TV reported. He was quoted as saying that he got mad because he told his son to go and buy some groceries and he didn't. After throwing a cup of boiling water in his son's face, he took the boy to a hospital, where staff notified police.

This is the second time that Saeki, who works as a taxi driver, has been implicated in a domestic abuse case. Last December, a child consultation center questioned him about injuring his second son by hitting his head against the wall. Saeki promised never to do it again, the center said.

Wont get groceries, Then no dinner for you. Just that simple, but he'd rather throw scalding water on the kid. I wonder, since this is not his first time in trouble for DV, was he getting regular anger management counseling?

People needs to fight for Child Abuse instead of that damn island everyone fighting about.

Japan, I don't know about worse but I agree is is horrible and humiliating to a child.

And oh shock! A guy who abuses his kids who didn't even get a slap on the wrist, promises to behave and abuses again. The whole system here is disgusting with regards to child welfare.

I think the mothers that ignore their little kids cries of help and constantly scream iyada are much worse and humiliating for the child.

This stuff, and all the kidnappings, stabbings, bullying and killings have probably been happening for years. It's just that suddenly a few, a very few, people are starting to realise that they can talk about these things, so more the 'usual' is coming light as crime.

@Sorry!

I am sorry for your experience and the mental scar will probably last forever however, I'm petty sure you'll never do the same thing to your own children... (which is not evident over here...)

You said it all guys, I concur to all your comments!!

Having a physical scar and an emotional scar for life. It's sad.

It may take three week to heal, but it will definitely leave noticeable marks and a scar deep inside the child's heart. I hope there is somebody to take care of this boy so that it doesn't haunt him forever...

Horrible man!

What a cruel bastard! I see all too regularly in Japan. Parents just lashing out and repeatly bashing their kids around the head, kicking them, punching them, pushing them. It makes me sick! They are just pathetic thugs! Hope this guy is given a bit of time in the pen and away from his son. I'd also like to think he gets some anger management counseling, but we all know that is not gonna happen in Japan.

My goodness! The dad should've taken his sorry self to buy groceries!! Poor kid.

@Hiroicci

i think a blood pressure controlled tazer is the answer here.

He's a kind of guy who cannot control his anger once it flares up. He must be seen by a doc. His custodian right should be suspended, if need be.

Who is looking after the kids of Japan? Certainly not the laws or authorities. This old maggot will get a rap over the knuckles. I just hope the poor boy is OK.

How terrible! My mother did this to me once, just because I wouldn't eat up all her macaroni cheese. I still bear the scars to this day.

Lock him up, and by all means get that kid out of there!

No, Japan is not becoming like America. It has always been like America, if you want to put it that way. The difference is that this kind of thing was not really reported until a decade or so ago, typically being treated as domestic affairs or part of home education.

In my days, it was normal for teachers and adults to hit kids with their hands or tools (though my parents, thank Cod, didn't). One of my junior high teachers was always carrying a bamboo sword. Mad.

Some conservative people think this is exactly what people need today to make good healthy kids. Madder.

Hello??? Red flag here.... how incompetent is this child consultation center???
