Man arrested for sending death threats to female 'talent'

On a purely legal level, posting threats on a blog is actual physical (well, digital) evidence that the threat happened. If it can be directly traced back to the IP address of the person who made the threat, then it can provide irrefutable evidence that the person made the threats. A verbal threat on the other hand is a he-said she-said situation, which is harder to prove.

I'm not saying this justifies police inaction when they don't respond properly to complaints, I'm just pointing out why it's likely that this type of case is more likely to get prosecuted sooner.

So let me make sure I understand...this guy got arrested for posting a blog, where the guy last week who had been reported FIVE TIMES by the woman he was stalking (who he subsequently killed) was ordered to write a note. Begs the question -- WHY? Could it be because one is a "talent"?

Well it is that type of story that makes police go on high alert for a little while even if it is a minor thing. Give the police a few months, then they will be back to ignoring stalking claims.

rickyvee, the sentence "32 injuries 459", phonetically, can be read as : "Satsugai Yokoku" (death threat) in Japanese. According to Japanese news, the latter sentence said "I'm coming to get you in 7 days." So this wacko wrote "This is a death threat, I'm coming to get you in 7 days" which must have prompted the police response.

I wholeheartedly agree with the new Japan Today policy of putting the label "talent" into quotes. Thanks for keeping things real!

Yes, it seems that posting veiled threats on a blog is far worse than actually threatening physical violence as the other nutter actually did before stabbing the woman multiple times.

jerseyboy, bingo! As the saying goes, some people are more equal than others.

You can like a "talent" as much as you like but you shouldn't have any romantic feelings towards the individual.

I think it's a question of implementing these harassment laws, most of which have only recently been enacted. Then most important is uniform enforcement. Unfortunately, it could take years or maybe even a whole new generation of police to get it right.

exactly jersey, utterly talentless 'talents' are just more valuable than other people, so of course the police are going to be proactive in this case...i mean, if something actually happened to her, what would happen to their favorite juvenile variety shows? i suppose her manager could just replace her with literally anyone they pass by on the street, but that sounds like work.

Police quoted Yasukawa as saying that he wanted the woman to acknowledge that he existed.

Well, now he's gotten the police to acknowledge his existence.
