Man arrested for setting fire to garbage outside apartment building

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of arson after he allegedly set fire to trash and other discarded items at the garbage disposal area for an apartment building in March.

Police said Masayuki Suzuki is suspected of setting fire to garbage bags and other items outside the building near his home in Nakano Ward late at night, TV Asahi reported. A vending machine 400 meters away was also set on fire about 15 minutes later.

Police said footage of a man believed to be Suzuki was captured on nearby security cameras at the scene of both fires. He is believed to have used a cigarette lighter to start the fires.

Police said Suzuki has denied the allegation and quoted him as saying, "I can't remember right now.”

There have been a series of similar fires in the area this year and police are questioning Suzuki about his involvement in those cases as well.

Need to put this wacko on the pyromaniac offender registry. Don’t want to live near him!

And it’s national news. I love that about Japan.

Six different homeless people probably did that in just the past week alone in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

How does one set fire to a vending machine? I mean, for a pyromaniac, unfortunately, rubbish is an easy target. But a vending machine?

The last sentence should be the first: “Police investigating a series of small fires in Nakano-ku have arrested a local man on suspicion of arson.”

We don’t know the extent the suspect’s possible culpability until the very end of the article.

"I can't remember right now.”

Oldest excuse in the book.

When I was growing up, 'Pyromania' was a now classic album by Def Leppard (I still have it and listen to it).

But it's another thing altogether to see pyromania for real, and this guy is 30 years for crying out loud.

What a geek, he needs to be put away!

Maybe he was harassed for not disposing of his burnables properly.

Proving again and again that Japan is one of the safest countries to live in the world..
