Police in Tokyo have arrested a 50-year-old man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s last week.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 1 p.m. on May 26 at the entrance to the woman’s apartment building in Toshima Ward, Kyodo News reported. The suspect, Tomoaki Watanabe, whose occupation is unknown, is accused of groping the breasts and lower body of the woman.
Police said Watanabe followed the victim for several hundred meters to her apartment building. The woman was able to use her smartphone to film Watanabe as he fled from the building entrance after assaulting her. She immediately called 110.
Police found Watanabe on a street about 450 meters away from the crime scene. Following his arrest, he was quoted by police as saying “I did it because I was stressed out.”

Quick thinking and presence of mind from part of the victim, she is not going to erase the terrible experience she was subjected to, but at least the culprit is no longer going to do the same to other people.

There’s only digital, quasi semi-physical proof so far that she has stalked him per making unwanted video footage, then violated his privacy by publishing the movie and accusing him. She’s only very lucky that he has already admitted to have done it. Usually, a video showing someone running and then accusing that person, wouldn’t have an easy stand at a justice court. Anybody can create or falsify such video footage nowadays.
