Police in Yokohama on Friday arrested a 46-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of sexually molesting a 9-year-old girl in his car last month.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 3:20 p.m. on June 29, Sankei Shimbun reported. The girl was walking home from school in Fujisawa, Kanagawa Prefecture, when a car pulled up beside her. Police allege the suspect, Koji Kotake, threatened the girl with a knife and said he would kill her if she tried to run away.
Police said Kotake is accused of then sexually molesting the girl for about 25 minutes before letting her out of the car.
Police said the distraught girl ran home and told her mother what had happened. Kotake surfaced as a suspect after street surveillance camera footage showed his car trailing the girl as she walked home before the incident.
Police said Kotake, who lives in Yokohama, has denied the charge, claiming he doesn’t remember doing anything. He is also being questioned about several similar incidents in the area in June.

Despicable piece of trash. I hope the authorities will eventually have enough evidence to send him behind bars for a long, long time.

Amen to that Danny.

"Police said Kotake, who lives in Yokohama, has denied the charge, claiming he doesn’t remember doing anything."
He forgot to say he had been drinking. Lock this guy up.

" he doesn’t remember doing anything."
There they go with that selective amnesia excuse again.

Where was a guardian angel with a baseball bat?

I hope this isn’t yet another case where even after “several other incidents” local parents and schools were not warned. Happens a lot here... Got to keep that “safety country “ image going.

"Kotake surfaced as a suspect after street surveillance camera footage showed his car trailing the girl as she walked home"
yep pretty soon they'll have to put cameras on every street like in Moscow 11.70 cameras per 1,000 people.

Poor girl :(

Disgusting low life needs to be chemically castrated and sent to prison with the other petterasses.

Well fuzzylogic, if it cuts down crime it makes since.

I have an 8 year old in Fujisawa. This is a parent’s worse nightmare, and makes me want to abolish obscene comics which exacerbate the problem. Shame on the authorities and government too for the light sentences for offenders, as well.

@David Wilson,
for Japan's intriguing justice system its probably best, whereas in Singapore, hard time and or the gibbet works real well as a disincentive thus their real low ataxia rates.

I swear to God if later I read about “local prosecutors declined to pursue the case. No explanation given” I will be convinced beyond the shadow of a doubt Japan’s legal system is trash and beyond repair

"denied the charge, claiming he doesn’t remember doing anything."
I have also noticed a lot of these criminals say that, perhaps indicating paracosm (s) syndromes.

Wake up people.
Porn is a major part of the equation.

I don't think you are talking about Japan. In fact, I don't know where you are talking about. I don't think its helpful to paint molesters as "often" murderers. I think it spreads damaging panic and does things like preclude potential molestors from seeking help, and in fact, makes murder more likely.
Just as bad, telling a child and her family she barely escaped death increases the mental trauma of all of them. I mean yes he did threaten her life, but fact is, they don't usually mean it. In fact, as far as I know, even those who run or otherwise don't cooperate either escape or are at least not killed. So the comment is also suggesting future victims cooperate rather than try to run.
I don't know what the working definition of "petterass" is but whatever it is, I suspect the majority are not molesting and threatening children at knife point. In fact I suspect the majority are not victimizing any children at all. But this comment is also damaging by way of making people reluctant to seek help. And that will result in more victimization such as this. Its counter-productive.

Well, at least it won't be as oppressive as Atlanta, Georgia in "freedom loving" USA (15.6 cameras per 1000 people) or worse, London, England (65.4 cameras per 1,000 people), or even Sydney, Australia (12.3 cameras per 1000 people). Yeah, that Russia looks like a libertarian paradise now, doesn't it?
Meanwhile, Japan doesn't even have a city in the top 50 yet.

This is not the first time, that we have read about this "positive" aspect of "Big Brother is watching you"....
No Civil rights complaints here ... not in this despicable case.
Double standards perhaps, when its convenient to complain ?
Personally, I am happy for fixed Cameras to be inplace, recording everything... that way, we at least see everything, and not the Social Media versions often shown - which exclude the run-up to an event and can paint a completely different picture!

Put him UNDER the prison ! A cell is too good for him

Does it? Honest question. When my daughter went to elementary school in Japan, I remember getting warnings from the school and PTA of reported perverts in the neighbourhood. When that happened (twice), we stepped up the monitoring of the routes to the school (i.e. more parents on patrol).

Just sayin'...

Japan stop sexualising children.

Japan is not the only place with pedos, so the whole manga = pedo logic, well...
I'm wondering about the case against this guy. It's going to be her word against his, so I suspect this guy will be released, regardless whether or not he actually did said act.
Japan should allow kids to carry a stun gun. Problem solved.

If charged, but NOT locked up and rehabilitated we will hear from this man again for sure.
As always it starts out like this but then it turns into a rapes and murders.
Lock him up till he is fully treated and safe to be on the streets again.
