Police in Osaka have arrested a 24-year-old man on suspicion of assault and property damage after he spat on a woman while she was walking in the downtown area of Kita Ward.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:10 p.m. on Nov 5 as the woman, in her 20s, walked along the street near Hankyu Osaka-Umeda Station, Kyodo News reported. The man, who was arrested on Wednesday, has admitted to the allegation, police said.
According to the warrant, the man, whose name hasn’t been released, walked behind the woman and spat on her hair and skirt, then hurried away. About 45 minutes later, a man spit on a teenage girl in the same area.
Both female victims reported the incidents to a nearby police box. An analysis of surveillance camera footage of the two incidents showed the same man.
Police said there have been several similar incidents involving women in the area since Nov 5 and believe the same man be responsible.© Japan Today
