Police in Yokohama have arrested a 40-year-old man on suspicion of property damage after he sprayed paint on another man’s house.

According to police, Tetsuro Akiyama, a company employee spray painted the doorplate, wall and mailbox of the house in Minami Ward at around 2:10 a.m. on May 12, Kyodo News reported. Police said that Akiyama’s parents live near the victim’s house and that he occasionally visited them, leaving his car parked on the street.

Police quoted Akiyama as saying that the man who lives near his parents damaged his car three times while it was parked and that he spray painted the man’s house out of revenge. Street surveillance footage showed Akiyama spray painting the man’s house on May 3 as well as May 12.

We have an elderly neighbor in our street who would vandalized parked vehicles in front of their house by pouring earth on the hood of the car or the seat of a motorcycle. I don't know why these people do these, but they're a nuisance.

So glad that mild incidents like these make national news in Japan unlike the steady stream of violence that makes regular news in my home country and many other places.

It is very easy and cheap to get a camera that would have recorded those supposed events of the man damaging the car. After all it is not like it could happen anytime anywhere but only when Akiyama parked his car there. If he had recorded that it would have made a very easy case and Akiyama could have had his revenge legally.

I know the feelings someone broke my cars too the window side mirror and scratch it harder but no evidence. I just cry when I saw it.

If he liked his car as i like mine he would ask the carpark space owner if he could park there , normally some consideration is all it takes. Property vandalism is not okay, now he can"t denie the video footage, what a impulse behaviour, is he a skater or some kind of rebel ?
