Police on Sunday afternoon arrested a 20-year-old man for stabbing a 53-year-old man in a park in Nayoro City, Hokkaido. The victim suffered stab wounds to his back, police said.

Yoshimasa Miura was arrested for allegedly stabbing the man with a 8.5-cm-long knife around 2:50 p.m. in the park. According to police, Miura fled after the attack but turned himself in at a local police station about one and half hours later.

Miura was quoted by police as saying, “I stabbed him because I was angry and just wanted to lash out at anybody.”

It's the new anger management craze. Or crazy you might say.

Hey Japanese, how about some anger management lessons, or easily accessable therapists. People have pent up rage and can`t control themselves.

Time to fingerprint the whole lot of them, and make them carry ID cards 24/7. That'll make the whole country safer, from themselves! (Obviously a sarcastic post, people!)

What is it with all the stabbings here in Japan? Maybe they should ban all knives and pointed sticks.

Some of japanese friends are saying that these stabbing incidents are just going to get worse and worse as the economy tanks and unemployment soars. They feel that foreigners will be targeted next as they stick out and it's human nature to need to blame someone or some group. Safety japan?? Not if you walk around whist being foreign.

Wow japanese criminals are really honest, if this happened in Trinidad (Caribbean), that criminal would've blamed everyone from God to the Government for the stabbing. But here they always tell you the genuine motive. Thats another thing about criminals here, most of the time they don't seem to have very good motives for these stabbings in my opinion, strange.

I highly doubt "foreigners" will be next, atleast not males. They guy stabbed was old; these guys go for targets of opportunity, so old peole, women and children are at the top of the list, especially if they aren't paying attention to their surroundings.

You want to stay safe? Stay alert.

By now a familiar story. X is angry and stabs Y for no other reason.

Way to go Surge!!

At last a forum regarding Japan with people having a fair and balanced view. Sure, Japan looks dangerous, wouldn`t like my kids mingling with all those creeps. US is so much safer and kids and the elderly can be safe.

Improve your security Japan, you are letting the lunatics take over.

My hat off to Triumvere, the only good comment/advice in this forum. Hat’s off to Triumvere, the only good comment/advice in this forum. Japan is no longer the nice clean safe place to live as it was a decade ago. As the culture becomes more diverse with foreign influence and the economy in the state it’s in, crime will rise. I recall reading an article in JT about six years ago where an African gentleman confessed that he had been mugging Japanese for years and making a good living doing so. His reason for doing it was that “the Japanese lack a sense of caution.” With that said, take heed to Triumvere's advice in being alert. The next street surgery candidate may be you!
