Man arrested for stabbing two minors over cannabis trafficking

Police in Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, have arrested a 20-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of attempted murder after he allegedly stabbed two male minors on the street in a dispute over cannabis trafficking.

According to police, Seira Tanaka stabbed two 17-year-old boys in the abdomen and back with a knife at around 1:15 a.m. on Sept 17, Kyodo News reported. The victims suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. Another boy, aged 16, who was at the scene was not attacked.

Police said Tanaka is believed to be a cannabis trafficker. The minors attempted to steal marijuana from him by connecting with him over a social networking site and lured him to the scene for a drug deal. However, a fight ensued and Tanaka pulled out a knife and stabbed the two victims.

That's a painful lesson to learn.

Should also charge the other two with attempted robbery...

We live in strange times. I'm noticing a trend of kids hunting in packs nowadays, a previous one that I can remember was a papakatsu in his 30's being assaulted. I hope this doesn't continue.

They weren't fighting over trafficking. They were fighting over the weed which they were trying to steal.

Just legalize it (the weed, not the stabbing)! Sorted, innit?

Subtitle: Things that could be solved in an instant by legalization if there was the political will and financial incentive to do so.

Of course people will focus on the cannabis but the focus should be on the 3 deviants in the confrontation.

Nope. Regulat teen cannabis users are more than FIVE times as likely to have psychotic-like symptoms as non-users, even after adjusting for other factors.

Leave this garbage out of Japan. Let other countries poison their youth if they want to.

No country on the world poisons its youth mate. They either have laws against drugs, or laws against selling drugs to minors.

This is what happens when you deal with that overglorified drug. I never understood the culture surrounding that plant. It makes you feel terrible, makes you stupid, smoking it is bad for your health and places that made it legal stink of that thing. Nothing would make yours truly happier than a universal 40-year mandatory sentence for simple possession.

It makes you feel terrible, makes you stupid

Then why do people smoke it?

it is bad for your health

Then why is it prescribed medically?

Then why do people smoke it?

Wanna be cool, fit in a group, they're sheep, became what I described in my previous post, etcetera.

Then why is it prescribed medically?

Tobacco, heroin, cocaine and countless other dangerous substances where once prescribed or at least recommended by physicians until studies showed they were detrimental for human health. I'm sure it will happen to cannabis too, specially the smoked form. Oils may be helpful, though.

So the people who say it feels good, they're all lying? Every last one of them? And why did people smoke it before there was peer pressure?

If I didn't respect you so much, I'd think that your thinking was a reductionist logical fallacy, but you're so smart, you must have some sort of evidence that all these people are bold faced liars.

Tobacco, heroin, cocaine and countless other dangerous substances where once prescribed or at least recommended by physicians until studies showed they were detrimental for human health.

Cannabis has been studied more than any other drug in human history. So you feel these were all wrong?

classic !

They should have visited a local kombini and bought a cheap bottle or whiskey.

Legalise it & tax it.

A twofold effect - it cuts out the criminal aspect & increases the government coffers

Cannabis "trafficking". Lol. Leave it to Japan to be so dramatic. Studies have implied that smoking or using weed is no more detrimental or addictive than drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco. Considering the number of functioning alcoholics in Japan and how alcohol is used as a crutch there, they could do with a substance that helps them chill out a little. Maybe put a smile on their face.

Legalise it, and this sort of thing goes away.

Wanna be cool, fit in a group

I think you are talking about a drug called alcohol, most weed smokers just want to be left alone to lie down on their couch and watch a bad movie.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

Just legalize it

Typical knee-jerk Japanese reaction: Sure, but then you would have people trying to rob the weed stores.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

So much for the cannabis-users-are-mellow-and-nonviolent narrative.

-1 ( +1 / -2 )

Legalise it, and this sort of thing goes away.

Exactly. It removes all sorts of problems.

Well, except for the higher rates of traffic deaths, the higher rates of pot-smoking by minors, the huge spike in pot-related emergency-room visits and hospitalizations, the increase in suicides and suicide attempts, and (yes, this is true) an increase in black-market marijuana dealing.

Don't believe me? All of this is going on in Colorado since that state legalized pot.

Just legalize it , maaaaaaaan. Then it'll all be totally raaaaaaaaad, man.

-2 ( +0 / -2 )

Well, except for the higher rates of traffic deaths

Not in Canada

the higher rates of pot-smoking by minors

The numbers dropped by half in Canada.

the huge spike in pot-related emergency-room visits and hospitalizations

Again, your claims are not born out by reality in Canada.

the increase in suicides and suicide attempts

Again not in Canada

an increase in black-market marijuana dealing

And again not in Canada.

It's weird, it's like you were trying to be wrong in every point. Maybe try to fact check yourself next time.
