Police in Kota, Aichi Prefecture, have arrested 21-year-old man on suspicion of stealing 1.13 million yen in cash from a convenience store in Gamagori where he is employed part-time.
Police said Kaito Iwasaki, a college student, is accused of stealing the money from the store’s safe at around 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, broadcaster CBC reported.
The store manager noticed the cash missing from the safe and alerted the police. After police reviewed store surveillance camera footage, Iwasaki was seen stealing the money on four separate occasions within an hour.
Police said Iwasaki has admitted to the charge.

One hour. And here I was thinking he got caught because he must have rushed the theft and stolen it over the course of a month rather than a year. A college student and he couldn't understand that he would be arrested almost right away?

Well, I guess, as similarly greedy as one who has ¥1.13mio in his safe and pays only ¥1000 per hour. lol
Rodney
@sven try ¥860.
he deserves the Darwin Award. Surely he knows only staff have access to the safe, and that there a cameras.

Not, the sharpest tool in the shed!

1000¥ and hour is still so much higher than what most countries including many states of The US pay! Also, nobody forces another person to work in a convenience store against their will regardless of how much the pay is. Be as it may regarding low salary for full time workers in Japan, part time salaries in Japan especially for college and university students aren’t that bad compared to almost everywhere.

Greedy and stupid.

Not the brightest sandwich in the shed, this one! Didn't he stop to think that there would be a camera trained in the position where the money is being handled to catch just what he did?
