Police in Yokohama have arrested an unemployed 24-year-old man on suspicion of theft after he stole money from a wallet from the company president who was interviewing him for a job.
According to police, the incident occurred at an elevator maintenance company in Seya Ward at around 8 p.m. on Nov 10. Fuji TV reported that the suspect, Shogo Takeda, has admitted to stealing 50,000 yen from the 32-year-old company president's wallet which was in a bag beside the desk. Takeda told police he took the money when the president briefly left the office.
Police picked up Takeda who had left his contact information on the resume he had submitted when he applied for the job.

Why on earth would you conduct an interview at 8 pm? I could see if they wanted to see him perform on the job for an evaluation and do so after a business has closed to watch him do maintenance work, but a sit down at 8 pm? That should tell the guy to stand by to be worked unmercifully.

I'm guessing he didn't go in there thinking to steal and had already submitted his info with the hope of actually landing a job. Then opportunity, to the extremely stupid and greedy, presented itself and he stole, having already given his real info. Definitely not bright, but I doubt he went in there with the intent and then handed over his info as well -- but you never know.
In any case, I'm guessing he was declined for the job.
