Man arrested for threatening to kill AKB48 spin-off group member

Last December two people were arrested for allegedly assaulting another NGT48 member, Maho Yamaguchi, who left the group on Saturday. AKS Co., a management company for NGT48, came under criticism for its handling of Yamaguchi's case as it did not reveal the incident until she referred to it in a Twitter post.

What is it with this "spin-off" group? Seems like NGT48 has more attention being paid to it, than the "originals".

Are these "idols" worth it?

Sounds a bit close to victim-blaming.

I am no fan of these idol groups either. But their existence doesn't cause people to commit crimes, or to threaten to commit them.

Enthusiastic fans do something unexpected.

It must be something common to all countries.

There was actually something akin to CHN48; it was based in Shanghai and was called SNH48.

Except that the Chinese partner partner broke off with AKS once SNH48 took off in China and ran with it, stealing the SNH48 brand in the process.

Kazuki Domoto was arrested for threatening Yuka Ogino...by sending a letter to a news organization by fax on May 9 suggesting he would kill her.

Domoto from Kyoto Prefecture admitted to sending the fax but denied any intention of killing Ogino.

That's going to stand up in court!

"Yes your honor, I sent a fax suggesting I would kill her, but I had no intention of doing so."
