Police have arrested a 29-year-old man on suspicion of abandoning the body of his 29-year-old ex-wife in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture.

According to police, Kazuki Ishii abandoned the body of his ex-wife Sayaka Ishii at her apartment in Kashiwa’s Toyoshiki district at around 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Fuji TV reported. Ishii was found lying on her bed face-up, clad in her pajamas. Police said she had been strangled with a hand towel which was near her body.

Police said they plan to add a charge of murder against Kazuki Ishii, who has admitted to the crime. He is believed to have killed his ex-wife early Wednesday morning and then took their three children, aged 7, 5 and 3, to an Internet cafe located in Ryugasaki City, Ibaraki Prefecture, where he was arrested.

Police discovered Sayaka's body after her parents contacted them on Tuesday night to say they hadn't heard from her.

their three children, aged 7, 5 and 3

That is a very significant day in Japan on November 15.

I cannot in any way condone the murder but, being a divorcee who has had no access to his kids for over two years I can understand the pain this guy was going through. I'm only speculating though. He might just have been a psychopath.

Sickening... there's NEVER an excuse for murder, and anyone who empathises with this POS needs his or head examined.

her parents contacted [police] on Tuesday night to say they hadn’t heard from her

So did he stay at his ex-wife's apartment on the Tuesday night and kill her early in the morning before taking the kids to an Internet cafe?

Did his ex-wife let him stay the night?

Selfish a&&h(&*. Now these children have to face a life without any parents. They will never be able to harbour any feeling towards this lowlife other then hatred. All his thinking was inwards. Never once did he consider the future of the children, only the hard life he was having. maybe a few years of hardship, at the longest, a decade or so. about one fifth of a life time. Now he will be out in 15 years to start a new life after totally destroying many left in his shellfish wake.

This kind of story makes me sick... They may be (have been) 29 but with the mentality of school kids. However, it is the Japanese "Family Court" who should be the first to be blamed. They always give the kids to the mother and the father is not allowed to see them. As a divorced single mother, I arranged it so that our younger son (in my care) could visit his father from time to time (which is one of the reasons I didn't leave Japan...). "Dual custody" could save a lot of heartbreak...

Did his ex-wife let him stay the night?

How is this relevant? If she let him stay the night, is she somehow partly to blame for her murder?

While I agree that murder should not be condoned, how do we know that it was the husband who was the monster here. How many times have there been stories of mothers killing their children and commenters here wondering why the father did nothing. Don't know that that is the case here, but it is a possibility that the mother was abusing the children and the father, after trying to find another solution felt he was faced with having to choose between his kids being murdered by his exwife or taking her out to protect them.
