Man arrested on suspicion of attempted arson at Hello Work office

Police in Hakodate City, Hokkaido, have arrested a 51-year-old man on suspicion of starting a fire at a Hello Work office.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 5 p.m. on Tuesday. Hokkaido Broadcasting Corp reported that an employee at Hello Work Hakodate called 110 and said a man was acting violently and throwing an oil-like substance on the floor.

Police rushed to the scene and arrested Seiji Ishido on suspicion of arson after he ignited the oil. A Hello Work employee extinguished the fire and no one was injured.

Police said Ishido filed a lawsuit last year, seeking damages from the government, claiming, that he had not been paid unemployment insurance benefits.
