Police in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and sexually assaulting a woman after breaking into her apartment in Koriyama City.

The incident occurred at around 9:40 p.m. on February 26, Kyodo News reported. Police said Yuya Kawamoto, a company employee, is accused of breaking into the apartment of the woman in her 20s, whom he did not know, threatening her with a knife, sexually assaulting her and stealing her cash and other items.

The suspect is accused of tying the wrists of a woman who had just returned home, covering her eyes and threatening her by saying, "Don't make a noise. I'll kill you.” He then allegedly sexually assaulted her, and stole 8,500 yen in cash and ATM cards. He forced the woman to tell him the PIN numbers.

Police said Kawamoto, who was identified from security camera footage taken outside the apartment, has denied the allegations.

Interesting how they rarely say what these people do for employment. They always mention police officers, firefighters, politicians etc. but not private or other job titles.

Unsure if job title a determinant in these type of offences.
