Man arrested over abduction of minor he met online

Police in Kiryu, Gunma Prefecture, have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of kidnapping a teenage girl whom he met online and then took to his residence.

According to police, Kisei Osawa, a construction industry worker, got to know the girl, who lives in Niigata City, on a social network site, Kyodo News reported. He arranged to meet her at around 8 p.m. Tuesday near her home. He then drove her to his apartment in Kiryu.

The girl’s family contacted police later Tuesday and police arrested Osawa at his home on Wednesday afternoon. The girl was taken into protective custody and was not harmed, police said.

21 years old”. Young people today understand shopping more than having common sense.

Remember, young men and ladies: Online shopping comes with no guarantees.

When in doubt, do your due diligence.

You get what you pay for.

Teenage is under the age of consent.

In Japan 18 is the age of consent.

How old was she? You mentioned his age, 2 years above teenage, yet you didn't bother to mention her age. Very big difference if she's 13 or 17. Silly article.

Sorry, guy. You found a “teenage girl” online, apparently under the age of majority and age of consent. Regardless of what you may have thought, what you planned, what you may have coerced, it all doesn’t matter. It’s time to pay the piper.

“The girl’s family contacted police later Tues and police arrested Osawa at his home on Wed aft. The girl was taken into protective custody and was not harmed, police said.” -

No info (age of girl?). No possibility to understand the story.

Teenage is under the age of consent. And this guy being 21 is old enough to know better. No sympathy for this devil.

It's all case by case one would think.

Whereas some 18-19 year old (teenagers) are pretty mature and know their way around. Unfortunately not all of them.

Of course on the other hand 13-17 year olds, not so much. But since we don't have the information, we have to speculate.

While some 21 year olds (physically adults) are still 12 year olds, mentally.

By the way, SO MUCH detail in this story.

It's like a tale to exercise and build your own imagination.

You'd have to. It would be the only way to understand all that happened.

Need context... there's a world of difference between taking a willing 17 yr old to your apartment vs. taking an unwilling 12 yr old to your apartment.

She's 19 years old. He's 21. I don't see the problem.

Where are you getting that she is 19? Her age isn't stated in the article.

The kidnapping was the problem!

No use squabbling about her age

Yes and In the uk it's 16. So this moral high ground judgemental stuff is ludicrous. A 17 year old has probably a string of ex lovers and an std history as long as your arm.

The past few years in America testifies to that. Some people never grow up maturity wise.

Apparently he must have tied and gagged her and put her in his trunk and then chained her to the toilet at his home so that she couldn't escape...certainly SHE had no part in this nefarious deed, as innocent as new fallen snow. Protective custody? She didn't want to go home?

No harm mentioned. What is the issue ?
