Man arrested over death of woman found buried in mountain forest

A 35-year-old unemployed man from Tochigi Prefecture has been arrested on suspicion of corpse abandonment after he buried the body of a woman in a mountain forest in Miyagi Prefecture in 2019.

The case came to light when a woman visited a police station in Sakura, Tochigi Prefecture, on Jan 18 and said that she had helped her partner bury a 24-year-old woman’s body in the forest in December 2019, Sankei Shimbun reported. The woman said her partner, Manabu Kaifu, had kept the woman confined in their apartment for about a month and had beat her before she died.

Acting on this information, police found the remains of a woman buried in the forest in Shiroishi City, Miyagi Prefecture, and arrested Kaifu.

Police have not released any information on the identity of the dead woman or how she died.

Glad they got him but the woman better not get off scot-free. What were the flatfoots doing all this time?

They really need to include more details in most of their articles, especially the crime stories. Surely, the sources they get their info from provide more details than they typically include here.

Poor women, both the dead one and the other one too bullied/codependent/gaslit/infatuated to go to the police sooner. Conversely he could be the one too bullied, codependent, gaslit or infatuated. Who knows?

Perhaps the women that helped bury the women may have gotten dumped by the guy and decided to get revenge. There's more to this.

Or she belatedly developed a conscience. We do not know, and the article gives no info. Fact is it is a bleak crime, and we should be glad the perp finally got arrested.
