Police in Kyoto on Monday morning arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of fatally stabbing his 24-year-old girlfriend to death at her apartment in Himeji, Hyogo Prefecture.

According to police, Yuichi Yoshinao has admitted to stabbing his girlfriend Akane Taguchi in the stomach at her apartment at around 1 p.m. on Sunday, Fuji TV reported. A blood-stained knife was left at the scene of the crime.

Taguchi’s six-year-old son, who was in the apartment, found his mother and ran out of the apartment in tears seeking help. Another building resident called 119.

Yoshinao, a part-time worker, went to Kyoto where he turned himself in to police at 6 p.m. and admitted to killing Taguchi. He was returned to Himeji on Monday.

Local media reported Monday that Taguchi, who lived alone with her son, had consulted police on June 9 after being struck in the face by Yoshinao but later withdrew her complaint.

This is just gut wrenching to read even in words, poor kid.

Taguchi, who lived alone with her son, had consulted police on June 9 after being struck in the face by Yoshinao but later withdrew her complaint.

While it's hard to judge a person's character, you should trust those red flags your guts are telling you.

Women are strongly encouraged to withdraw complaints and to not file police reports against physical attacks by men they know. There are cases where they have been told to. You have to stand your ground and understand the abuse you'll be put through if you file a report.

And this is exactly the point at which this idiot should have been locked up for a few days, while police "investigate"! He might not be a murderer and this little boy's mum might still be alive! We have a police force worse than useless in this country, who insidiously put the blame for domestic violence and assault on the woman. Personal experience alert:

A police officer said "you must have done something to cause him to attack you." on and on until she caved in from exhaustion, and confusion.

The laws protecting vulnerable people, especially women and children, are a joke in this country.

I sentence this animal to chemical castration and life behind bars!

Ive heard similar many times.

Yes, she “withdrew her complaint” for a reason.

random she was coerced to withdraw her complaint, think about it.

How often a similar situation occurs in Japan.

The young woman was 24 with a 6-year-old son. She had a baby with a guy very early. He’s gone. She’s alone with a child. She finds a tough guy. Tough guy doesn’t give a damn about the child. He mistreats them - Actually, in most cases the child suffers physical abuse in this situation.

Yes, Japan is a “safe country”. But there are domestic crime patterns that happen over and over again. How sickening it is to have to read about it. There is some social organization failing that young women are not contacted when this problem is developing.

IN OTHER COUNTRIES, event if the complaint is withdrawn, the police do not care. The seek out the abuser and take care of the situation because the abuser is ABUSED into fear of reporting. Japanese police just turn a blind eye.

Japanese police failed this woman and her son. Yet again Japans impotent “police” contribute to a persons death

Poor kid had to be the one to find his mother after this scum killed her. Hope this loser gets the sentence he deserves (at least 20 years) so there's some real justice.

Yes, it is easy to blame the police but if the woman withdrew the complaint, legally there is nothing they could have done.

It's a tragedy for a kid to lose his mother like this and to find his mother like this.

In most cases where people in Japan withdraw their police complaint its either of 3 reasons:

A: The person who filed the complaint and the other party came to an agreement (made up if it were a couple)

B: For fear of retaliation by the person they are complaining about (attacker)

C: The police talked the person filing the complaint (Akane Takeuchi) out of going through with the complaint by telling her something along the lines of "Its not necessary to file this complaint because the most we can do is talk to him and have him sign a paper stating he won't do it again!" And upon finding out she went to the police about him, he became angry. And....well, you know the outcome.

I've seen these types of cases far too many times. Don't believe me? Have a look!

Locking people up without evidence would result in innocent people being locked up in such situations.

Are you ok with that?

Good think the bastard didn't find the son and decide to leave no witness.

RIP to his mom

After reviewing this video, I can’t help but notice one thing strange;

A Middle Eastern country producing a story (A Region of the world where women, in general have NO rights), being narrated by a chinese guy (another country where women have no rights)

preaching to basically Westerners about women being abused, where women DO actually have rights. (Certainly more than either of those countries)

Thank you for watching the video.

But I must say, the origins of the narrator, country and other points are to be deemed irrelevant in this situation. The point is getting the information out there for people to know what goes on. I hope there were other things you took away from this riveting documentary.

@mocheake

I agree with you. At least 20 years. Because we all know that human life is at least 20 years, After 20 years, a killer is good to leave. I know that the victim was young and when the killer gets out, the victim would have been only 44. But who doesn’t want to die at 44???

@Vince, how did they fail her...she’s the one who withdrew her complaint.

-4 ( +4 / -8 )

vince , anyone who can think about what happened here can see your meaninglessly placing the blame on the police . i know there's a lotta dorx mong them but the problem here was her allowing someone who had been violent toward her subsequent access to her . to make things better lets focus on the real
