Police in Nagoya said Thursday they have arrested a 61-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 62-year-old wife at their apartment.
On Wednesday night, a male acquaintance of the couple who hadn’t heard from them in a few days visited the apartment in Tempaku Ward, Fuji TV reported. The lights were on and the door and windows were locked, but there was no response from anyone inside. He looked through the balcony window and saw the victim lying on the floor near the front door. He then called 110.
Police said the woman had been beaten about the head with a blunt object and had also been strangled.
Police said no one had seen the woman or her husband since the afternoon of Nov 24. He was located early Thursday morning in a lodging facility in Komaki, Aichi Prefecture, after his car was spotted.
Police said the man has admitted killing his wife on Nov 25.
