Police in Kyoto have arrested a 74-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 75-year-old estranged wife.

According to police, Tamakami Omori, a taxi driver, was arrested on Saturday, and has admitted to beating his wife Yoko several times about the head and face at her house on June 14, Kyodo News reported. Their son, concerned at not hearing from his mother for a few days, went to her home at around 7:15 p.m. on Friday and found her body.

An autopsy revealed the cause of death was a cerebral hernia, police said, adding that Omori has given no motive for killing his wife.
