Man arrested over murder of estranged wife

Police in Kochi City said Thursday they have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 22-year-old estranged wife in a hotel room.

According to police, the suspect, Takumi Doi, a temp worker, strangled his wife Ayano to death in a hotel room on Wednesday, Sankei Shimbun reported. He called police from the hotel at around 7 p.m.

Police said the couple had lived in Nagoya from May until August when Ayano moved out and went back to her family’s home in Kochi, complaining that her husband was beating her.

On Aug 29, Doi reported his wife missing to police. Police found her in Kochi and after ascertaining her safety, told Doi she was alright but did not tell him where she was living.

The victim also consulted Kochi police, and they kept her home under surveillance for a time but there were no further complaints from her.

Police said Doi has admitted to killing his wife and quoted him as saying he strangled her because she wanted to break up.

@naka, only she didn’t bring a friend. She sent her friend in alone.

As much of a male chauvinist pig as I am, I want to tell women that when they go to talk about breaking up, bring or have a trusted friend or family member as close as possible. This is especially important if you have been a victim of DV at that person's hands. Also, let the guy know that you didn't come alone.

sadly enough last week a woman did  just that, she brought her friend. and then the guy ended up murdering the friend.

what's even sadder is that this POS will get out after 8 years and then will go out and do the same thing to another woman. this guy can't be rehabilitated to either make him a eunich or give him the death penalty.

"How did he get to her if the police were "protecting" her?"

He invited her to a hotel in Kochi City.

Hold on a sec.....

Police in Kochi City said Thursday they have arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 22-year-old estranged wife in a hotel room.

But if.......

The victim also consulted Kochi police, and they kept her home under surveillance

....then how could.....

he strangled her because she wanted to break up.

There's something I'm missing here. How did he get to her if the police were "protecting" her?

If he has admitted to killing her, why is he arrested ‘under suspicion of killing her? That seems strange.

Because he hasn't been convicted. There are these things called 'false confessions', as well as 'forced confessions', and between the two of them, a confession alone cannot be considered proof. Hence, he's under suspicion. Innocent until proven guilty you see.

And, you wonder why 30% of Japanese women stay single by choice.
