Man arrested over murder of ex-wife

Police in Akitakata, Hiroshima Prefecture, have arrested a 41-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing his 36-year-old ex-wife.

According to police, Ryozo Kumagaya is accused of stabbing his former wife Nami, a nurse, in the stomach at the entrance to her parents’ house at around 6 p.m. on Saturday, Fuji TV reported. Her family called police and Nami was taken to hospital where she died about three hours later.

Police said that the couple had divorced in 2019 and that in October of that year, Nami’s family had filed a complaint against Kumagaya for hanging around the house and were worried he might force his way in.

So sad to lose someone who dedicated their life to helping others. No mention of kids nor he reason he was unemployed nor what efforts, IF ANY, police had made to followup up their complaint of stalking.

There’s really not a lot the police can do other than give a warning if the person hasn’t done something violent. I had an ex who broke up with me in a text. I went to her place and knocked on the door to try and talk in person. She called the cops. That was enough to scare me off and forget about her.

Nami’s family had filed a complaint against Kumagaya for hanging around the house and were worried he might force his way in.

So the family reported his worrying behavior over two years ago and what exactly did the police do to curb any escalation of said behavior into something more sinister? None apparently, considering that now, the woman is dead. I wonder what it'll take for Japan to take these crimes seriously.

Condolences to the family.

This incident happened over 2 years ago. How could you discredit the police saying they did not do anything. Smart logic would assume the police did do something because the family reported his behavior over two years ago and the murder happened just recently. Yes he killed his wife, but give the police some credit instead of reading between the lines and assuming idiotic logic based on little information from the news. If you have no idea of what it takes to investigate a crime perhaps you should read a little more, or become a detective yourself its not as easy as it seems.

Once a woman has turned her back on you, it’s done. If she wants to return, it’s her call. Move on with your life. - Perhaps those helplines in the “Health” tab above also need some for ‘mental health counseling’ for these men that can’t deal with rejection?

Extremely sad and disturbing. That parasite should receive the firing squad. Further, anyone who violates a restraining order should receive a minimum of 10 years in prison with no chance of parole.

No mention of kids

Strange for an ex to be hanging around the house unless she was denying him access to his kids. Thats just a possibility, but its all too common in Japan. No excuse for what he did, but it drives some men to extremes.
