Police in Ishinomaki, Miyagi Prefecture, said Thursday they have arrested a 49-year-old man on suspicion of killing his 75-year-old mother with whom he lived.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Kyodo News reported. Police said Masaki Sato, a company employee, is accused of stabbing his mother Takiko in the neck with a knife.
The victim lived in the house with Sato and two other family members. One of them called 110 and reported that Sato had stabbed his mother. The victim was taken to hospital where she died shortly after arrival.
Police said Sato has so far given no motive for stabbing his mother.

They always give the reason "I was tired of taking care of her!" Which is no excuse because she raised you until she couldn't and never gave up!

Those types of killings are rarely so violent. They typically asphyxiate the victim. Stabbing is usually the result of an argument or simmering grudge.
Plus, there were two other family members living in the household. So, if the victim was actually in need of care (the article doesn't mention that was the case), the accused wouldn't have been alone in providing it.

It is important to approach the topic of family murders in Japan with careful consideration and further research.
The case of Masaki Sato should be examined carefully, taking into account the specific circumstances and factors contributing to the tragic event.
Addressing the issue of family murders, requires a comprehensive approach that involves promoting mental health awareness, providing support to families in distress, improving conflict resolution skills, and strengthening social support systems to prevent and intervene in situations of domestic violence.
