Man arrested over sexual assault of woman in her Tokyo apartment

Police in Tokyo have arrested a 39-year-old man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman in her 20s in her apartment earlier this month.

According to police, Yusuke Nitta, a company employee, is accused of forcing his way into the woman’s apartment, threatening her with a knife and then sexually assaulting her late on the night of July 7, Kyodo News reported.

Police said Nitta told them he did not know the woman who was returning home from work to her apartment in Nerima Ward. He followed the woman to her apartment. When she entered the lobby of her apartment building, he also went in before the door automatically closed.

As the woman was opening the door to her apartment, he forced his way in behind her and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

Police said Nitta was identified after an analysis of street surveillance camera footage outside the apartment building. Police said Nitta told them the woman was drunk at the time and that he did not force her to do anything.

This is why I always look behind my shoulder whenever I enter something and I tend to close the door behind me first.

Yeah sure, you were drunk enough to stalk and assault someone, like anyone would buy that. I wonder what other excuse can the "I was drunk and couldn't remember" card be used for.

Women Kids Elderly anyone Man should always look behind to see your door SHUTS and is locked! This happened to another woman in another country where the perpetrator went inside because the main wasn’t shut when she went in and then the perpetrator took advantage and k the woman. Disgusting how in this world women are still not safe to go home from work without being followed and assauIted

The police have 23 days to get the correct story out of him. This is just his initial trial balloon. Just as none of you believe it, the Police don't either. "So you thought a woman you didn't know would welcome you into her home? You've been reading too many manga." If the victim was drunk, she would have been unable to legally consent to sex, making the act involuntary after all.

Yup, HE’ll get away with it because SHE was drunk…so it’s HER fault.

Sounds about right

Suspended sentence.

Nitta told them the woman was drunk at the time

Was she stressed from work too?

That's a flip. Not: "I was drunk!" . . . Instead it's: "She was drunk!"

The "I was drunk so don't remember" excuse is bad enough, but "She was drunk" is the lowest of depravity.
