Police in Mobara, Chiba Prefecture, have arrested a 30-year-old man on suspicion of stealing at least 70 women's raincoats.

According to police, the suspect, Shosuke Saito, has admitted to the thefts and was quoted as saying he got turned on by the smell of women's raincoats, Fuji TV reported.

Saito, a part-time worker, was initially charged with the theft of five raincoats belonging to female staff at a health drink retail store on between 7:30 p.m. on April 26 and 8 p.m. on April 27.

On May 11, he was caught in the act trying to steal raincoats from another store. Police subsequently raided his home and found at least 70 raincoats.

Saito said he stole women's raincoats on at least 30 occasions. He said he had loved the feel of raincoats ever since he was a little boy.

swingin?? I don't get it. Did you want to write singing? Or is that the original lyric?

(music) "I'm swingin' in the rain, just swingin' in the rain!!" To bad it wasn't plastic umbrellas - he would have been in heaven and police would have found 700,000 of them at his house (still not enough).

Next we'll hear about someone stealing men's raincoats. You know. The plastic ones that don't protect us from the rain.

There are definitely a lot of mental people with sick fetishes here. Women's raincoats, that's a new one, next to bicycle seats, undees, and who knows what else.

Makes me wonder what's coming next.

CrazyJoe . . . I wonder too. When I 1st read about how forcing japanese women to the ground to strip-off their panties (right on a public street) was the craziest and weirdest thing ever . . . . it was only the tip of the iceberg.

Pity on the poor chap. He didn't harm anyone, and his arrest on raincoat fetish charges has added some nice mirthful humour to the world's thousands of news websites. Sunny days ahead.

I bet he's just "Singing in the rain, just singin' in the rain..."

Ahhh...Okay. I am literally at a loss for words. This man needs to see a psychiatrist, because that isn't right.

Imagine that. Going on a police raid for contraband. . . panties, stockings and now raincoats. I've heard it all.

@Disillusioned That might explain a lot. So either his beloved mother worked at Yakult, or they had it delivered every day as a kid.

I saw this on another website with a photo of the coats. They are mostly Yakult delivery girl's coats. Let's hope this creep gets some counselling for his illness although, I doubt if he will.

I have heard of some pretty strange fetishes and this one has got to top the list on strange.
