A 15-year-old girl was assaulted by a man who stole her school uniform skirt in Tsukuba, Ibaraki Prefecture, police said Thursday.

According to police, the girl was walking to school when a man came up behind her, grabbed her by the shoulders and started punching her in the face, TV Asahi reported. When the girl fell to the ground, the assailant removed her skirt and then ran away.

The girl used her cell phone to call police. She was taken to hospital with a broken nose, police said.

The assailant is described as being in his 30s or early 40s, chubby, about 170 cms tall and was wearing a black jacket. He also wore glasses.

Police said the attack took place in a farming area and there was no one else around at the time.

If it is such a remote area they will soon track him down.

Perceptive girl, despite spending most of the attack getting punched in the face, she had a better description of the guy than the two dozen people who watched a guy kick a blind girl a few weeks ago.

Weird. at least he wasn't also a knicker thief lie previously reported

I'm getting an image of a certain stereotype here. Perhaps this guy lives with his parents too? And has an unsightly mole or two?

Wow what a brave man... sorry, he's not a man, he's a freak! Seriously, what kind of git would beat up a schoolgirl and nick her skirt? Hope the police catch him pronto.

What a POS

Let's hope the isolation of the place where the incident took place will allow the cops to catch this creepy thug quickly. And, let's also hope he 'accidently' breaks his nose while being taken into custody. What a cowardly POS!

This is terrible news, but not shock n awe as it seems to be happening more and more this year alone. Unfortunately it didn't make much noise with any opposition groups since a foreigner was not involved or else they'd be all over this story. Immediate action would be widespread throughout Japan. I can see it now, oo there's goes a foreigner, run, lets go the other way...scary the foreigner. seems right now I have more to fear about the Japanese attacking my wife or daughter than by a foreigner.

Don't forget being unemployed and extremely rosy palms.

Yet another nutter.

With all the weirdo's in Japan there probably is a black market for "used" skirts.

the worst is yet to come.... U aint seen nothing yet....

... I'm dumbfounded. I guess he was too embarrassed to walk into a store to buy one, so he resorts to physical violence, breaks her nose, and then steals one - guaranteeing infinitely MORE embarrassment when he's caught? It's true though... nobody has ever claimed these sorts of people think their actions through.

I couldn't believe that this things was happening in Japan.

Hate to break your pretentious little bubble but being here 15 years these kind of stories have always been in the news. My first week here in 1999 and some freak in Tokyo was actually taking underwear off girls by knife point by pushing them into the mens room at Tokyo and Nipponbashi Stations. When the cops caught him and they searched his apartment he had over 100 pair of knickers there. Some taken from girls and others stole off clothes lines.

This kind of crime can happen anywhere not just in Japan. Japan is still a very safe place compare to the rest of the world. You can run but you cannot hide. I hope the cop get to him before he strike again.
