Man beaten to death in car; wife, son arrested

Police have arrested a 44-year-old woman and her 22-year-old son on suspicion of killing the woman’s 53-year-old husband by beating him to death in a car in Tokyo’s Itabashi Ward.

According to police, the woman, Yuka Aruka, and her son Taisei, have admitted to killing Hirofumi Aruka in their car in Izumicho, Itabashi Ward, on Friday morning, Fuji TV reported. Police said they beat the victim about the head and face.

Later in the morning, Taisei called police from a FamilyMart convenience store in Shiki, Saitama Prefecture, to report that his father was dead in their car in the store’s parking lot.

Police quoted the two suspects as saying there had been financial trouble between the victim and themselves.

.....Guess he wasn’t cuttin’ the mustard as the family’s bread winner. Vicious mum / son duo.

Wc62six; if that's true, the wife and son should have gotten off theirs butts and got a job. If you think the man should be the bread winner, than that would be considered sexist in this day and age.

When words are not enough....

So please tell me what am I supposed to write for each of this daily family murder:

a) That I am sick seeing a daily family murder scenario

b) That my condolences go to the victim(s) and their families (pun intended)

c) That those are some bad people and they should be locked up

And then tell me which of the variants will help Japanese realize they have to start a campaign on national morals, right about now?

None of the above. You’re some random dude on the internet - why would they be concerned with your comments? Most of them could not even read them.

If you really want to do something about the problem, beyond just commenting on a random news site to make yourself feel better, go into that line of study. Study tit. Put together actual numbers showing why these kind of things happen. Then you’ll have something to work with and be much more likely to be listened to.

Hehe, well that always helps, but maybe not to solve the problem at hand.

Daniel Naumoff - c) That those are some bad people and they should be locked up

Which ones? The ones who killed him or the victim? You don't know what kind of donkey's butt this guy was. For his wife and son to beat him to death he was obviously not a nominee for the father of the year award. I'm not condoning murder, but there is more to it than the 'financial trouble' statement in the article.

How do we know they weren't both working their arses off, and he was pachinkoing everything down the drain

Everyday the same story. We need some "man bites dog" style stories. How about one day with "no family killings today" article or sumpin laddat.

Pure geniuses. So, their "financial problems" are gone now that they have murdered someone? I guess they'll be "taken care of" in prison. Of course, prison introduces its own set of problems different from financial these morons never seem to think about.

Is their statistics for domestic violence here? I checked in Australia and approximately 50 people are killed in domestic violence each year.

Im sure most are not reported on here so it seems it is very high here!

Population is five times that of Oz so the actual number is probably higher in Japan but, as a percentage, it may not be that different.

Japan's population is around 6 times greater than Oz. If you multiply the Australian statistic by 6 it works out around one every day, pretty much the same as Japan.

smithinjapan - So, their "financial problems" are gone now that they have murdered someone? I guess they'll be "taken care of" in prison.

That's not necessarily so. It's very unlikely either of them will do any 'hard time' for this crime. Plus, it's very likely his life insurance will still be paid to the wife. Japanese courts are a strange and mysterious place for us foreigners.

As usual, not enough detail to know who was to blame, but both the scenario that a middle-aged man was gambling his money away and the one where he was simply not willing to put his son through private collage because he flunked his exams are plausible.

Harsh punishment in any case. Don’t take family for granted.

Yeah cool sentiment, we have two murderers and a dead body : WHO TO BLAME I WONDER...

So many misandrists making excuses for the woman and her son. You wouldn't be implying that the poor man "had it coming" if the genders were switched and if it was the wife who was beaten to death. And to the idiot who thinks he wasn't being enough of a breadwinner, if it was YOUR mother who was beaten to death, I'm sure you'd be ok with people saying she wasn't cutting it as a homemaker.

How do you people know if this poor human being was beaten to death because he refused to give his hard-earned money to a useless & gambling wife and a wastrel of a son?

Seems to be culturally acceptable here to kill another family member. Barbaric.

Till death us apart!(wink)

Horrible, my regards to his side of the family.

BeowulfOkami

I don't think the commenters were being misandrist, they were arguing back and forth the possibility that the opposite could be true as to who was wasting family money. Pure speculation with no evidence.

None of these people believe it's a good excuse for murder, so please do not change others' words just because you are in a tizzy.
