Man beats fast food worker because one chicken nugget was missing from his combo meal

When you order chicken nuggets, you generally know exactly how many you’re supposed to get. So when a 32-year-old beauty salon manager in Obihiro, Hokkaido, got home from a local fast food joint on the morning of January 5 and discovered that his combo meal was short one nugget, he was understandably dissatisfied.

The man called the restaurant and said “My combo meal is supposed to have five chicken nuggets, but it only has four!”

In an example of outstanding customer service, they promptly sent an employee over to the man’s house to apologize and try to make amends. Then, in an example of terrible customer behavior, during the restaurant employee’s visit, the beauty salon manager became so angry that he struck him in the head and kicked him in the stomach. The disgruntled customer also poured a milkshake, which had been part of his combo meal, over the restaurant worker’s head.

Local media has not disclosed the specific restaurant involved, but a look at Google Maps shows only three major hamburger chains with branches in Obihiro: Lotteria, Mos Burger and McDonald’s. Lotteria doesn’t have a five-piece nugget set on its menu, and while Mos Burger does, its set is part of the children’s menu, so it’s unlikely a full-grown man would order it for himself (his ability to throw a temper tantrum not withstanding), making McDonald’s the most likely recipient of the man’s business and beating.

It’s unclear whether or not the customer ever got his fifth nugget, but he did get arrested by the police, who say the man has a history of calling the restaurant to lodge verbal complaints, though this is apparently the first time he decided to express his grievance in the form of a beating. When questioned about the incident, the customer told officers “I haven’t done anything wrong.”

the customer told officers “I haven’t done anything wrong.”

Nah, he hasn't done anything wrong, except physically assaulting what I would assume to be a young person. Other than that, he's perfectly normal. (roll eyes) Just another Japanese bully.

What a great reason to earn an arrest record. lol

Maybe he ate one and claimed a piece was missing.

He ought to have his nuggets kicked.

Ban him from the restaurant nationwide, after he gets out of jail in 10 days. Don't tell him, until he shows up and have a video camera there to capture his face.

just another typical frustrated Japanese man turned into a stupid bully . . . . . .

Nugget nutter!

I know the feeling. I hate getting home and finding my drive thru order is wrong or the food is badly cooked. It's is very maddening.

But not bad enough to assualt someone. I can usually call and get a free thing on my next visit.

"What a great reason to earn an arrest record' Eureka!

Japan is heading down the path of American behaviour.

Its been this way for a long time, and its not Americas fault.

Many Japanese will bully if they can, you just have to mirror their behavior, then

he or she, will loose face in front of the others, and problem solved. Submissive or

speaking Japanese only gives them a rise. Sometime I might do something like..."Sumimasen...

so so sorry, do you want some money? I have 20 yen...is that enough??..but usually I just react

accordingly.

"Just another Japanese bully" yep be on the alert sounds like they're about to parturition another Akihabara man.

Exactly. He hasn’t “done anything wrong”. Because he was raised this way. Sociopathy can be also an outcome from bad parenting.

Hopefully he doesn’t get any more nuggets at least for the next 23 days!!

This same "hairdresser" would have been crying to the police playing victim if that McDonald employee would have decided to stand up and kick his butt after having a shake poured over him and kicked in the stomach.

From my experience with witnessing and experiencing confrontation in Japan, these situations only escalate to this ridiculousness once the aggressive Japanese person realizes that the other Japanese person won't do anything. This it true is many places, but here there are always seem to be an element of public humiliation involved!

Once the police are involved it becomes a race to the bottom and who can pretend to be the biggest victim.

I'm sure the worker that visited the Moron's house took more nuggets as part of an apology for the missing nugget. So the Moron thought he could assault the restaurant employee and it's all good. I feel for the employee but he should have defended himself - a solid case of self defense - then he could have sued the restaurant for wrongful termination if they fired him for defending himself.... I wonder if the Moron counts his French Fries  ???

Those processed nuggets are full of scary stuff. Must have gone to his head.

The employee should have come to his door with a packet of complimentary nuggets,

bowed, and split the scene.

No reason to send someone over to apologize and make amends, empty handed,

that's asking for trouble.

Do you have to defend this moron badly enough that you appended the words "empty handed" to the sentence? If you tell McDonalds they forgot something, of course they will bring the item with them.

I bet there were 5 nuggets, and the dude is a liar. Not to mention an A-hole.

I'm speechless.

He ought to have his nuggets kicked.

Or to wake up one day and find one of his own nuggets missing.

All over one McNugget? Now if it was the fries I might understand.

There are pizza places where they'd deliver a new correct pizza if they messed up your order (ya could even send the complaint to them thru social media)

Mcdonalds drive thru should have a third window for the drive through, one where you order, one to pick up what you thought you ordered and one to exchange or get the correct order at, damn near everytime I ised them they would give me the wrong things, but havent used mcdonalds now for years.

That's why ya always check ur bag before ya take off

Thought everybody does that in all drive-thrus

One correction: If it was McDonald's, that wasn't a chicken nugget. Oh, they might call it a chicken nugget, but what's inside that fried exterior can barely be called organic matter, let alone meat or even chicken.

Joe Pesci was correct about drive thrus.

It is called pink slime in its raw form, isn´t it? Anyway, it must taste really good, seeing how this guy went berserk when he was one "nugget" short....

Just another Japanese Bully... ! Idiot restaurant sends employee over... why not just pick up the phone !

Sue the Restaurant, and next time, if you're going to send someone over to apologize, provide a reasonable work environment from which they can do so, i.e. Gorilla-style bouncers would be a start.

People everywhere, get crazy where McDonald's is concerned:

Mc 'Scuse me?
