Police in Tokyo's Machida City have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of assault after he beat up a 75-year-old woman.
According to police, the incident occurred early in the morning on July 25. Fuji TV quoted police as saying that the suspect, Yoshito Kumasaka, suddenly pushed the woman from behind as she was walking along a sidewalk. He then repeatedly kicked her and punched her in the stomach.
The woman suffered four broken ribs, Fuji TV reported.
Kumasaka, who is a hairdresser, told police that at the time of the incident he was on his way home after drinking when he saw the woman walking slowly ahead of him. He said that he got enraged because she repeatedly kept looking at him over her shoulder in a “suspicious" manner, as if she wanted to “run away” from him.© Japan Today
