Man beats up 75-year-old woman in Tokyo for 'staring at him suspiciously'

Police in Tokyo's Machida City have arrested a 35-year-old man on suspicion of assault after he beat up a 75-year-old woman.

According to police, the incident occurred early in the morning on July 25. Fuji TV quoted police as saying that the suspect, Yoshito Kumasaka, suddenly pushed the woman from behind as she was walking along a sidewalk. He then repeatedly kicked her and punched her in the stomach.

The woman suffered four broken ribs, Fuji TV reported.

Kumasaka, who is a hairdresser, told police that at the time of the incident he was on his way home after drinking when he saw the woman walking slowly ahead of him. He said that he got enraged because she repeatedly kept looking at him over her shoulder in a “suspicious" manner, as if she wanted to “run away” from him.

Wow because she kept looking over her shoulder at him as if she wanted to run away he attacks her!!! Proves she was correct this idiot needs to be locked up. If it was my mom or grand mother or sister, I would wait for his release and that would be it for this fool!

" He said that he got enraged because she repeatedly kept looking at him over her shoulder in a “suspicious” manner, as if she wanted to “run away” from him. "

....and then he proved her suspicion was right! What a moron.

What a tough guy...beating up an old lady. Nutter.

Broken ribs are incredibly painful. It is disgusting that an elderly woman is attacked this way. The guy needs to serve a reasonable, but real, jail sentence - no suspended sentence as too often is the case.

@erbaviva. Did you stop to think that she might have had dementia?

i know the feeling. An old lady was lost and she was asking somebody some directions but the person she asked doesn't know either so i approach her as I live in the neighborhood and guess what? she stared at me like i was the vilest person in the face of the earth and muttering to herself that I was out to get her. I felt so violated that I really wanted to srangle her right there in the middle of the street but i did not. Next time I see an old hag, i will not in any way offer help nor assistance.

Lock him up because he'll do it again. I don't want to read about some poor K1 fighter getting beaten up by this rogue hairdresser just because he looks at the hairdresser suspiciously. But seriously, an old lady? Who would push and kick anybody, let alone an old lady? Bet his family's proud. If you can't handle your booze then don't drink.

Scum! Let's hope he never sees the sunlight again.

He deserves it but will assault charges won't give him much.

My own American Mom and Korean Mom are close to this woman's age. If similarly had happened to either one, I'd personally do the same to the perpetrator, or at least want to. Such "men" aren't really men at all. Thanks for proving this woman's fears correct!

Lock him up; toss the key...

Second that !!

She was right to be suspicious. I hope they throw away the key, but the 'I was drunk' defence will mean he'll just get a telling off for hospitalising a vulnerable old woman.

Tough guy...

What a scum he is! What she feared has only proved right getting injured heavily. Given that she is an old woman, I worry if she would be quite well again once and for all.

Maybe she knew that you were going to assault her, you cowardly scum....god, I hope they put this drunktard away!

"she repeatedly kept looking at him over her shoulder "

She probably felt a bad vibe, or was felt threatened or something, and she was unfortunately right.

the one that block the roads and sidewalks just standing their gibbering , and those that cough without covering their mouths ; especially in restaurants really irk me.

As usual he will get the "He was drunk" get out of jail treatment.

Man if I had to beat up every old Japanese person who eyed me suspiciously, I could be like Jason Statham

He said that he got enraged because she repeatedly kept looking at him over her shoulder in a “suspicious” manner, as if she wanted to “run away” from him.

And you just proved that her suspicions would have been correct. Scum!

Loser. Try being a gaijin here in Japan, if you beat up everyone that looked at you suspiciously you'd be MMA trained.
