A 39-year-old man who was previously arrested for stealing mail from inside a condominium's mailboxes in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, has also been charged with stealing from delivery boxes in Tokyo and Saitama Prefecture.
Police said Yoshiyuki Yamaguchi, 39, an unemployed resident of Tokyo’s Adachi Ward, is suspected of involvement in 150 cases of theft, with stolen items worth a total of about 2.5 million yen. They said he has admitted to the charge.
Yamaguchi was first arrested in May for stealing mail from a condominium in Kawaguchi, Saitama Prefecture, Fuji TV reported. Police launched a subsequent investigation that found him responsible for numerous thefts from parcel delivery boxes in both Saitama and Tokyo. The delivery boxes serve as a drop box for items ordered online.
According to police, the targeted delivery boxes require couriers to type in a PIN code to securely delivery parcels. However, Yamaguchi is believed to have opened these boxes by withdrawing an “absentee delivery notice,” which contains the written PIN code.

in america, amazon leaves your orders on the doorstep. you can steal people's packages easily. the resale value is as high as the stupidity of the people who made the purchases.

Seems like part of the problem is with poor letterbox design which allows him to easily fish out the delivery notice.
