Japan may very well have a low murder rate compared to other countries, but it definitely has a higher rate of heinous and disturbing murders, especially of women and children. I just feel sorry for the family of this poor little girl.

Stories like this remind me that we can never be Slack concerning the safety of our children. Yesterday my granddaughter and I we're going down an escalator in a shopping center. Some creep was going up the other side. I caught him staring @ my granddaughter for a prolonged period, so I yelled at him."Hey, what the hell are you looking at?" I could tell his mind was far away as he was staring at her. Keep in mind she's only 10

Sensei, while I don't automatically assume someone looking at my daughter is a pervert but I'm constantly annoyed by the stares, from men or women. It's just rude. A brief glance, a smile, OK, but these reverie like stares on the train, stone-faced. Argh!

I nearly cried reading this story. This pig needs to be slaughtered for what he's done. No lesser punishment is acceptable.

Agree 100%. I know many here champion the death penalty, and if anyone deserves it child murderers do, but I'll agree with Zichi and say  life with hard labor without parole.

Having said that IF they decide to execute him, I wouldn't shed any tears...

Lock him up forever... preferably in a place he can suffer similar treatment he visited upon the little girl, but every day for that life.

No death penalty- just life in prison with no rice or fish. That ought to do it! LOL!

Sorry, in most cases I do agree that life in prison should be sufficient, but what this swine (which is an insult to all swines) did was so heinous and brutal. If I were the girl's parent, I would want to see this man fry! He hit her with a car, RAPED her, STRANGLED her, and if that wasn't enough, he didn't even allow her to die with dignity. He had to brutalized her further by putting her lifeless body on the train tracks to be more mutilated even further.

Life in prison??? REALLY??? His victim probably BEGGED for her life and he stole it from her. And when he BEGS for his life in court, we are just suppose to just hand it to him???

NO, NO, NO, NO...he does not deserve the luxury of living in any prison. That's reserved for people who can be rehabilitated and coexist peacefully with others. This MONSTER has a sick and diseased mind that cannot be treated. A rabid dog cannot be cured. They need to be put down, before they hurt others.

He knew the consequences of his actions and yet he killed her any way. This is NOT the way a normal mind works. All of you parents out there, just think for one second that this person got to your child.

Prison in Japan is not fun. He needs to be locked up for life (until he dies). One account of a Japanese prison:

'.....inmates are kept busy in workshops much of the day. There is no talking allowed while working, or while walking around, or during meals - so that accounts for most of the daytime. Conversation is possible during exercise sessions - about 40 minutes three times per week. Some of the occupants were in rooms of eight people, and they were allowed to talk during the evenings; the ones I visited were in single rooms, at least partly by their own choice: their command of Japanese was too limited to enjoy the company, and it would have been stressful. The rooms were small, but not extremely so. There was a schedule of radio programs piped to the rooms over the weekends or on holidays when the workshops were not in use and inmates were in their rooms most of the day. They had 30-minute visits to the library once a week and could have (I think it was) up to six books in their room at any time....'

I think that the poor girls parents should be asked which way the they want him to be punished, loss of life, solitary confinement, gallows, firing squad, lethal injection.

To some anti-social psychopaths, that would be heaven! They don't have to interact with people around them, they do a little work and get three meals a day. Yes, its no resort, but for some people who have given up on life, like this rabid animal, its an escape.

I like the idea of letting the parents decide his fate. They are the victims now, and their lives are ruined because of this monster, so they have every right to decided whether he gets to live or die.
