Police said Friday that an 82-year-old man and his 79-year-old wife were stabbed to death in their home in Kashiwa, Chiba Prefecture, on Thursday. The man's younger brother was found in a nearby car, having apparently committed suicide.
According to police, Toshimitsu Toku and his wife Tsuma were found bleeding from multiple stab wounds at their home by Toku's eldest son at around 6:10 a.m., TBS reported. Emergency services rushed to the scene and the couple were taken to hospital, where they died a short time later.
Around 20 minutes later, a local resident found Toku's younger brother unconscious in a car parked in a field around 400 meters from the house with rope tied around his neck, TBS reported. Police say he was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say they have reason to believe that a loan Toku made to his brother, who lived nearby, had caused the pair to fall out. Police say it is likely that Toku and his wife were stabbed by his younger brother, who then committed suicide.© Japan Today
