Man confesses to dumping wife's body in river

A 63-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his 51-year-old wife and disposing of her body in a river in Tokyo, police said Monday.

The suspect, who has been identified as Shiro Bando, was arrested for allegedly dumping the dead body of his 51-year-old wife, Hiromi, in the Oyoko River in Kiba, Koto Ward, on Sept 14, Fuji TV reported. According to police, Bando has confessed to illegally disposing of her body, but has so far been vague about the actual circumstances ofher death.

Police were able to identify the body by her personal effects and by asking local residents for information, Fuji reported. They then visited the home of the deceased where they found Bando who allegedly confessed to dumping his wife's body and was arrested on the spot.

This is a really sad thing... This guy should be put away for a long time.

They always charge a murder suspect with abandoning the corpse first, it's easier to prove and allows them to incarcerate the suspect. Murder charges come later after they've had a chance to build their case.

If only the wife had known this before they got married... no one deserves this. Hope the man gets what he deserves.

I can't believe after all Japan has been through that cherishing your loved ones and people is something that some people still can't grasp.

was there an autopsy? They should've been able know if it was murder before they found the man. They love waiting to last min to put that "murder" up there to keep them numbers down.
