A 40-year-old female employee at a Yoshinoya beef bowl restaurant in Nagoya City was threatened with a knife early Thursday morning, before handing over about 30,000 yen, police said Friday.
The man, dressed in black and wearing a black beanie, entered the store at around 3.30 a.m. and ate two large bowls of beef on rice and had two bowls of miso soup. When the employee came to take the bill, which came to 1,260 yen, the man suddenly pulled out a knife from a plastic bag and threatened her with it, demanding she hand over some cash. The employee gave him about 30,000 yen and the man then left the restaurant, fleeing the area on his bicycle.
The man covered his face with a mask just before the attack but security cameras in the store recorded footage of his face, police said, adding there were no other customers in the store at the time nor were either of the two staff injured.

If they didn't wash his bowls and chopsticks they should have a good set of his fingerprints.

Very good! He ate for free and also loaded himself with 30,000 yen. As soon as get get hungry again he can do the same action again. 'FREE ' FREE!! I DIDN'T THINK OF THIS ONE!!!

'fleeing the area on a bicycle'--He is gonna need that exercise after eating 2 beef bowls!
30,000 yen--Well, he only asked for 'some cash' and that's all he got.

Guess you just can't pull a stick-up in a Gyudon shop on an empty stomach.

How can he eat that crap? Worst food in Japan. Should take the Keystones about 6 months to apprehend him.
flammenwerfer

It must have been his first time at a Yoshinoya's and found it was Pretty crappy food so maybe the guy just wanted a refund and they refused to give him one so he got one himself.

If he was trying to score a free meal as part of the deal he should have gone somewhere a bit more upscale. Somewhere with a couple of Michelin stars, at least.

Well, the perpetrator is obviously Japanese. Had he been foreign, he wouldn't have gotten away on a bicycle without being apprehended by koban cops.

Yoshinoya is so good you can have 2 bowls and Japan so safe that you can also ask for cash later. The Japanese cops are so incompetent that despite you mug being recorded you can flee with no worries of being apprehended for a couple of years. Maybe the 30000 yen is going towards some plastic surgery. And Yoshinoya food is better than some food I've had in the States and Canada.

Agreed, Yoshinoya while not spectacular is certainly better than lots of food you'll find in the US. Besides, this guy wanted convenience. If he stole money, he'd have to flee for a while which means he can't even spend that money on food until later.

I guess all the people praising Yoshinoya food haven't been here long enough to remember the scandal from four or five years ago of them using offal and other unknown parts of animals in their hamburger mince.
Good luck to the cops.LFRAgain
And when the police catch this idiot, and he's tried and convicted for the crime based on his confession, someone, somewhere on this thread will inevitably scream that the police beat the confession out of him, and that he probably wasn't the guy they were looking for. Just another day at JT. (Yeah, I'm feeling a little snarky today)

Waitress: "The food was that bad, eh?"

All the police need do is checkout the nearest hospital as after such a "Meal" he will be getting his stomach pumped, and after paying the bill for this the poor man will be broke again, quite the vicous circle!!!
