Police said Thursday they have identified the suspect who fatally stabbed a man in Yokohama, and then himself, as his wife's boss at the Kanagawa shipping company where all three worked, according to media reports.
TBS reported that the victim, identified as Yuji Kurosaki, 42, and his wife Satoko, 39, returned to their apartment in Sakae Ward at about 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Satoko told police that the doorbell rang and her husband answered it while she was in another room. She said she heard an argument and came to the entrance to see her husband struggling with a man wearing a helmet bearing Japan Post Office’s “JP” logo, TBS reported.
The suspect was also carrying a package addressed to Kurosaki, police said. After stabbing Kurosaki, he then stabbed himself in the abdomen. Satoko received a cut on her finger after struggling with the assailant.
Kurosaki had taken Monday and Tuesday off to care for his wife, who had not been feeling well, TBS said.
Police believe the suspect, whose name has not yet been released, had been waiting for the couple to return home. Satoko was quoted as telling police that her husband and the assailant had been quarreling in recent weeks, TBS reported.

Sounds like an opera.
Elbuda Mexicano
No idea about operas but sounds more like this nut case was in love with this man's wife, he could not have her, so he did the typical low down evil selfish thing any snake in the grass would do here in Japan, dress up like a mailman, yamato takkyubin guy etc..ring your door bell and stab you, actually not as rare as many of you all here may think. RIP dead husband and burn in hell for all of eternity by wife's crazy boss.
some14some
what a loving husband ! or was he fearing the worst and kept himself away from office?
tmarie
I don't think we're getting the full story. Even if he was in love with her, why the rage - unless they had been having an affair! Poor husband.
CrazyJoe
Sounds like a love triangle.

Sakae ward. Why does that not surprise me? (Another story). Can't wait to hear the rest of the story. I bet this is deep.
One thing is for sure, his wife is at the center of it. What was her role in this? Of course, knowing women, it's no doubt the one trick they know how to do, inflict pain through physical affairs, lies, and manipulation.
With her husband fatally stabbed, she now owns the house and all the money in the accounts. Plus the insurance money including his retirement pension. She's a rich woman now.

Elbuda Mexicano you made my morning. I looked up typical in the dictionary and this was the definition.

Net Ninja i suspect with this opinion the first part of your statement may be false.

So he took the day off to care for his wife, who was not feeling well, but they were out on the town until 8 p.m.? Sounds more like he was playing hooky to spend time with his wife, not necessarily that she was not well.
In any case, if the boss had been in love with Satoko and this were some love triangle gone bad then I agree it would be an opera. Instead, without more details it just sounds like the usual blown fuse resulting in murder (then suicide).

I like the part of the story where he stabs himself in the abdomen. I nice twist of plot, there was no foreshadow to that.

NetNinja: I hope you are talking about the Japanese women..?

NetNinja: On this statement.....I so agree with you!

if he wouldnt have stabbed himself, I would have bought the story. but his 'attempted' suicide makes me think this was a silly love triangle.

Of course it's just speculation, but I wouldn't be surprised if this wasn't her plan all along: have an affair with her boss, manipulate him into madness so that he'd kill her husband and then himself. That way he takes all the blame, and she comes out as the widow collecting her late husband's insurance money, and free to do as she pleases. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it turns out she had some debts or something too.

Readers, please do not post libelous remarks about the woman.

This headline really takes the cake.
Given that they all worked at the company, you could also say that the man was stabbed by his own boss could you not?
Can't quite see where the wife is involved other that coming to the door when they were struggling....

The wife worked in a different section, so her boss was not her husband's boss.

horrible news.
i wonder what was in the package. the knife?
combinibento
Why oh why do Japanese news stories include completely irrelevant paragraphs like this.
nath
Don't know the details.
But taking Monday/Tuesday off this week is not unusual as we got hit with cold siberian winds that brought a major flu-virus down here that hit many from saturday onwards. Got hit myself as well as many of my friends(across kanto). 2-3 day bug and it hits hard(sore throat, dizzyness, spike in fever, etc).
Cue the conspiracies.
combinibento
And who on earth takes a day off to care for their spouse? How old is she, five?
nath
combinibento.
I would hate to be your wife, child, parent, etc.

Okay picture this; wife has a fling with boss, boss wants wife to leave husband but wife won't. Boss says he will confront husband with the news of the affair unless she does. She has the weekend to think about it but doesn't want to go to work, she tells the husband and she is really depressed so hubby stays home to look after her. The boss seeing he has lost his love gets angry and takes jealous revenge by going to their home and stabbing his competitor and then being a bushi Japanese he decides to kill himself too not realizing that harakiri isn't an effective suicide move except on TV, note to wanna be samurai ::jugular is much more dramatic and effective:.

Okay Spudmanreicarnated. you just won my "Good" of the day. That last sentence in your post literally had me in tears. Very funny.
In reference to my previous post "I meant Japanese women" I agree with most of the post here that put the light of suspicion on the wife.
On a personal note, I wouldn't blame the other man if a Japanese woman were cheating. Especially if she's a married woman, she knows her title, she knows if she puts herself in a situation where a physical affair can manifest. She is ultimately to blame. It's so wrong to attack the other man. He's just doing what any other man would do. A woman offers herself up, you're the man that night.
A cunning Japanese woman can manipulate men. All she had to do was pit them together at the wrong place, at the wrong time. How convenient for her that she just happened not to be around.
Then she received only a cut? She could've done that to herself. After all she can't appear unscathed at a murder scene.
combinibento
It's ME: Your company must offer a ton of sick days for you to use them up on staying home to basically do nothing, sit at your spouse's bedside and cook soup. Where I work they don't grow on trees.
Cricky
Really need a Courts report section, find out the details and outcome. Too often there is no follow up.
WilliB
It is funny to read all the speculation here. Fact is nobody knows the background for this from the article. All we know is there was a real angry guy who was also into Samurai movies. (Harakiri? When is the last time that happened, since Mishima?)

If it was an affair, well.. it takes two to tango. Both the wife and the boss would be to blame.
Unless of course it was the husband and his wife's boss that were having the affair! In that case, perhaps the boss was mad at his lover for refusing to leave his wife, and decided that suicide Romeo&Juliet-style was the only way out. What an interesting story that would be! Sad, of course, though.

combini,
I hope yr not married, wud hate to be yr spouse! This week my wife got a nasty cold, fevers coming & going each day. So I worked from home much as I cud to help out. Now being self employed helps but even a salary dude shud be able to help a spouse for christs sake, maybe you shud quit yr job & find something better
combinibento
Yeah, I'm a total loser because my spouse is independent enough to survive 8 hours at home when she has a cold. Jesus am I the only one who doesn't drop everything in my professional life to hand out tissues to sick family members all day??
GW
Hey knowing it is half the battle!

I feel so sorry for this poor husband, dude stays home to take care of his loving wife, and gets stabbed to death but her idiot boss?? WTF?? I really do not know what to make out of this, possible love triangle gone horribly wrong? Very scary indeed and this is why I am so sick and tired of Japanese tv soap operas, they are full of this kind of crap, maybe great for tv ratings but, in real life?? RIP killed husband PS sorry moderator and thanks for actually reading my comments.

Fadamor
HAHA! All this talk about illicit love affairs with absolutely NO evidence presented that there was ANY relationship between the boss and the wife other than a working relationship. I guess the keystone cops get all their recruits from JT posters.
Elbuda Mexicano
Thanks Tamesu san! I do wish and pray that these crazy things would not happen here in Japan, but for that matter anywhere in the WORLD, but they do happen, and again I do hope and pray that my own family, friends and people here posting on JT never ever have to suffer like these people in Yokohama, but wife who is Japanese was telling me that a few years back on guy at her office had the hots for a younger women there, HE WAS ALREADY MARRIED TO ANOTHER JAPANESE WOMAN, this younger lady also had her own boyfriend, and the boyfriend tried to confront the older nut case and tell him not to move in on his girl, the older dude punched the younger guy's teeth out! So there are some real nut cases out there not just in Yokohama but my guess all over Japan and all over this planet.
greendestiny
Not one shred of evidence for an affair, just as Fadamor says. So why the rush to imagine there was one?
seesaw1
GW & Combinibento: I'm a woman. I could take care of myself if it's just a common cold....I don't need my husband to take a day off to take care of me. It's too kimochi warui.....and I don't want my friends to think that my husband is a kaka-denka....LOL
Joselito Asi
Why would an assailant kill himself after murdering his victim? No one knew who he was (after the attempt) after all because he was wearing a helmet. The twist of the story, however, became gloomy after Satoko received a cut on her finger after struggling with the assailant.
The boss, perhaps, in his desire to get rid of Satoko's husband so he could take Satoko alone got frustrated after he realized that Satoko was still in love with her husband.
The ending of the plot could be, "If I can't get you, no one will!"
End of the story.

Love gone mad! Opera it is.

Hmmm - something decidedly fishy here. We are missing loads of background info, that's for sure and certain. Please follow up this soap opera, JT.
