Man flashes girl, asks how she rates him on 1-10 scale, then pays her ¥3,000

Police in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture, have arrested a 52-year-old man on suspicion of indecent exposure after he dropped his pants in front of a 17-year-old high school girl, asked how she rated him and then paid her 3,000 yen.

According to police, Taro Yakabe, who is the manager of Hitachi Ltd’s planning division, approached the girl outside Shioiri Station in Yokosuka at around 9:30 p.m. on Nov 23 and asked if she would take part in a survey for which she would be paid.

The girl went with him to a nearby car parking lot where he dropped his pants. Yakabe then asked the girl how she would rate him on a scale of one to 10, and gave her 3,000 yen and left. The girl reported the incident to a koban near the station.

Police said that 30 minutes earlier, Yakabe did the same thing with another woman, in her 20s, and paid her 5,000 yen.

Police identified Yakabe through street surveillance camera footage and the girl's description and he was arrested on Thursday. They said he has denied the charge and quoted him as saying he was drunk and has no recollection of either incident.

I still want to know how much she rated him.

Perhaps the first lady gave him a higher score as she got 5,000 yen! Weird all round.

48 ( +49 / -1 )

Man that young lady can consider herself fortunate nothing worse happened.

”Can I an older strange man take you (a minor) to a parking lot at night to do something”.

The answer is no young lady! What the hell is the matter with you? What if he stuffed you in the trunk? What if there were three others waiting?

This has to be something he read in a manga magazine. What a creep!

No word on whether the girls were able to keep the money.

Heck, anyone can flash me if they pay me 3000-5000 yen.

Was he paying based on experience? I hope so, because if not, he need to learn how to balance his payments. ¥4000 yen a shot at least.

Hitachi had promoted this guy to manager?

15 ( +17 / -2 )

That 3,00 yen won't be enough for the therapy sessions to make them forget what they saw. At least they got paid and were left unhurt.

-14 ( +4 / -18 )

How come there was a 2000 yen price difference ? cheapskate! I am glad the ladies went to the cops and reported it to them.

I feel sorry for the girl to have to see that. She must be on a streak of bad luck

Funny newS and always blaming Alchol and I agree Alchol will make you do stupid things With no recollection that’s why it’s a poisonous legal drug so the more the crime rate the more money to be made. I too wouldn’t mind getting a flashing for free money.

This would be funny... if it didn't happen in real life.

3 ( +5 / -2 )

Hope he kept his willy distance!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

So the payment is based on age? Being around 40 I should then get 10,000JPY. Bring on the evaluation.

Ladies and girls, never, ever go with a man upon such a request! The consequences could be horrible or even deadly.

7 ( +9 / -2 )

Bet he’s not working there much longer.

9 ( +9 / -0 )

Perhaps the first lady gave him a higher score as she got 5,000 yen! Weird all round.

...maybe 1000¥/point... :)

8 ( +8 / -0 )

Does the rate go up based on the age? And what did she rate him? And one more thing.... why did she agree to go with him to a parking lot?

5 ( +6 / -1 )

I guess that means the other girl gave a high rating, took the 5000yen and left it at that.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

Even if they didn't actually see anything, maybe he had told them "500 yen a point".

4 ( +4 / -0 )

Utterly amazing what turns some people on!

6 ( +6 / -0 )

If they reported him then they shouldn’t have accepted the money, and at least should return it. He’s going to need it to pay his lawyer!!

The flasher is most likely going to lose his job at Hitachi. At 52 and in this age of pandemic, it won’t be easy to find another decent job.

well, that makes it all ok, right? /s

These sorts of stories are part of the charms of Japan?

Middle-aged men seeking approval from girls. Does this get him placed onto a national sex-offenders DB where he is formally required to notify his neighbors of the offense and is forced to stay 300m away from all schools? Of course, after being convicted, he'd lose his job.

1 ( +1 / -0 )

It doesn’t say in the article whether or not the girl and the young woman actually gave him a rating. Just that he was asking as part of the “survey”. Regardless the shame, police record, and economic consequences of his actions will be significant. Testosterone can influence men into doing some very stupid things.

I got flashed by a young woman, not wearing underwear, while she was riding on the back a bicycle her friend was peddling but didn't get paid. Now I feel cheap.

The article lacks key information. How did she rate him?

There's this thing called "consent" where you ask permission to show women your penis instead of just flashing them. Traditionally, men only show women their penis when they are in a trusting relationship, instead of showing it to all and any women whether the women want to see it or not.

Why did they report him if they took the money? If they weren't happy they wouldn't have accepted. People are weird...

This really does demonstrate that men wildly underestimate womens' fear reaction during sexual harassment and sexual assaults. In fact, it shows a complete lack of male empathy to the female experience.

In other words, you really don't seem to understand how terrifying it is to be in a situation where you are confronted by someone bigger and stronger than you who thinks nothing of planning and carrying out a sexual assault against you.

To be clear, they didn't "take the money". They were handed money in a moment of terror when all they were thinking about was how to escape without being raped or killed.

I believe a correction to this article will soon be in order:

This may be true if you were a witness to the incident, actually talked to the two females, or was one of the two females.

You do not what or how everyone thinks in the same situation. You do not even know what the suspect or the two females look like.

The idea seems to only apply to men.

What you have done here is to make an assumption about me based on nothing more than a stereotype of women in your head. Then you negatively applied that stereotype to me with zero evidence that it fits.

I would suggest not doing that.

Do you really believe that?

They were not cornered...that is the thing.

I found the man's behavior stupid but really no one cares.

No one apparently forced them to watch.

They had the cake and ate it.

Personally, nudity in Japan is a non topic normally.

Consent is still a philosophical idea to discuss. I don't consent doing all things I do but I have to...

Respect is the keyword.

You may find his behavior merely stupid, but the women would have been afraid; and it is their point of view that matters.

He clearly did force them since he did not ask their permission nor get their consent.

They did not get any cake. Alas, cake was not part of his plan.

"Personally"? You say that as a man; again, it is the womens' point of view that matters.

Consent is fundamental to social interactions.

Who knows the male psyche better than men?

I hate to break it to you, Jimzio, but you guys really aren't very hard at all to figure out. I think the comedian Jeff Foxworthy put it best:

"Ladies ill tell you what were really thinking. Were really thinking "I'd like a beer and i'd like to see something naked" That's all were thinking You go to a nursing home and see a 90 year old man going down the hall on a walker That's what hes thinking "I'd like a beer and I'd like to see something naked."

Though this guy clearly had it the other way around "I'd like them to see me naked."

I don’t know which is funnier, this article or some of the comments.   Of course, I am glad the girls were not hurt.

Very sweeping, demeaning and stereotyping. I’m sure you wouldn’t accept sweeping, demeaning and stereotyping comments directed at women. I’d also be careful about basing your views on the male psyche on routines from comedians.

Anyway, I think my point about men being better placed to talk about the male psyche is a defensible one and I think women could learn a lot from men on this subject. You got your view of men from a male comedian. I think fathers are well placed to warn daughters about men. I don’t see this as mansplaining. Similarly, I think women are better placed to talk about the female psyche and men can learn from this.

Don’t sneer at or reduce an entire gender to the primitive level as you did.

I’d listen to men more rather than dismissing them as primitive creatures and you might find out we think about more than beer and nakedness.

Women are illogical, fueled solely on emotion, can’t park cars, can’t throw and run in a ridiculous manner.

I’ve heard those things on comedy evenings.

I find it endlessly hilarious the lengths to which you guys warp logic in order to blame women for men sexually harassing and assaulting them. I keep looking out my window expecting to see a big explosion on the horizon as your heads explode from the effort.

So far, you have suggested:

Men don't need to ask women for consent for showing them their penis.

it is degrading to women suggest that women become frightened when men sexually harass or assault them.

These women were not cornered or coerced, but voluntarily engaged in judging this man's penis despite the fact that he lied to them in order to get them alone so that he could drop trou.

Since these women took the money he offered him, that retroactively makes it okay that he tricked them into looking at his penis.

Keep going, guys. I'm having a real fun night laughing at your ever-more-ridiculous machinations. :)

Interesting question. I suspect it's women, in the same way that men probably know the female psyche better than women.

We may all know our own psyche better than anyone else, but I'd guess, on average, men and women get much closer to people of the opposite gender than those of their own.

I think fathers are well placed to warn daughters about men.

But I suspect mothers may be better placed to inform them.

As soon as I started reading this, I knew there were people focusing on the fact the girls didn’t run away / accepted the money and somehow blaming them.

What happened to the 52 year old man showing his “thing” to little girls? Doesn’t matter anymore?

...

When a girl starts talking to some guy in the internet and wants to meet him and he rapes her : “It’s wrong BUT she went there” ( forget the rapist ).

When a girl has sex with an older man for money: “It’s wrong BUT it was consensual” ( forget the pedophile ).

Even when a girl is simply walking down the street late at night: “...BUT she’s really dumb, what was she doing all alone” ( forget the stalker ).

That “but” has several meanings and it’s a big problem. We still have a long way to go.
