A freak like this touches a child and I find him? He'll be lucky if he can still breath without assistance when I'm finished. Children are sacrosanct. You mess with them, you pay a steep price.

They do absolutely nothing to prevent the spread of disease, encourage social inadequates to hide behind a make-believe cloak of invisibility instead of growing up and joining society - but above all they are a quick and easy disguise for criminals like this piece of garbage here.

We had a problem near where I live last Autumn. Some sick bastard slashed a six-year-old. Police were on the lookout for a man with dark hair, wearing a surgical mask.

We need some kind of awareness campaign to persuade the herds of people here who think they're doing something for society by wearing this nonsense that actually they're just making society worse.

I do hope the police get this filth. But I very much doubt they will unless he turns himself in.

Don't know the father's age, but he may have been raised in a time when children generally were safe from perverts and predators. We're living in a different world now.

I don't actually think its worse now. I just think we're more aware of it which leads to, why would you leave a six your old child alone in a mall? Kids that age can stand outside the stall door and chat but they don't get left outside a toy store in my books. I see so many kids running around shopping centers and grocery stores. Drives me nuts. Not because they are screaming at the top of their lungs but because god knows what could happen to them if some sicko is around looking for a kid to molest.

A few anti-mask posts here, I see. I don't think it's a fair equation. He could just have easily have been wearing a baseball cap with the brim pulled down, or a sun visor, a wig, or spectacles/sunglasses. In my experience, people are perfectly recognizable even with masks on (at least, my friends and acquaintances certainly are). We usually recognize people by their eyes, not their jaws. I am quite sure that anybody acquainted with the suspect will be able to identify him easily from the photos or footage.

Wonder if this guy likes manga depicting young children in less than appropriate situations? When they catch this guy maybe the j-cops should take an inventory of his reading material, computer and websites visited.

How away from the toy store was the toilet? No father or mother should leave his/her son alone as things like this might happen. Probably not as likely in Japan, but this time it did. Pretty clear photo. If the police cannot identify the young man, something definitely is wrong. Maybe I watch too much NCIS. Hope they get the guy soon!!

Since they have a picture of him, they should be able to find him searching the motor vehicle license records. The mask should not impede finding him. Now this all depends on how good the NP are in cyberspace. As of the surgical masks, it think they are a good idea to prevent the spread of disease. You may become grateful for them if a pandemic comes along. The last one killed 25% and it attacked healthy people so some got on a train and never made it to their station. I would ban surgical masks yet....

Strange because at 6 year old, my kids are/ were fully aware not to go with a stranger, especially to an enclosed space. And no, you can t take your kids with you all the time for such need. Cautiousness is key. I hope that guy will lose teeth...

They should plaster his face all over the city and someone will eventually recognize him! As he will surely be a target in the inmate community for his crimes, prison officials need to assign him protection so I suggest he be assigned a cell with yakuza who will surely take a keen interest in him and send a clear message to other inmates hands off. They will instill in him a deeper understanding of brotherly love and although he may never be totally cured, he will surely have some special memories and only the yaks will be willing to maintain that friendship and bond long after his release.

The sexuality of our youngsters here in Japan is rather worrying. And even though I bolster anime and manga as part of our national culture, I think they contribute to the weird sexualization of our youngsters. May this garbage be caught soon.

Weird. I'm guessing the bodily fluid was his sperm. Well, if they catch the weirdo, and it looks like there's a good chance they will, after they match the bodily fluid he pasted on the boy's stomach with his own, they can lock him up for a good long while. Hopefully he has a good amount of money/assets they can consficate to pay for his incarceration.

This is really weird writing. Like is that supposed to be a euphemism or is it supposed to be lurid scandal- mongering writing, I can't even tell which. If it's that fluid then say "where he molested the kid", if it 's blood, say blood, if saliva say "attempted sexual acts" or "tried to kiss".

A lot of Japanese people think Japan is still safe. Unfortunately, times have changed and it's no longer safe. If I'm with my younger son and I have to go to the bathroom, he comes with me. If he has to go to the bathroom and my hubby isn't around, then he goes to the women's bathroom with me. My older son usually gets embarrassed to go into the women's bathroom so if hubby isn't around, he goes to the handicap/family bathroom with me at the door.

Again, poor kid :(

Ms. A Japan is still safer than most countries, it just seems that the summer always brings the nutters and perverts out of hibernation.
