A man in his 20s was found dead in his apartment on Monday night, police said Tuesday. Police said they received a call about 9:30 p.m., in which a man said his flatmate had stopped breathing. When police arrived at the apartment in Nakagawa Ward, they found a man lying near the entrance, bleeding from head wounds. He was already dead, according to police.
Meanwhile, TV Asahi reports that there were two other men and a woman in the apartment at the time and that they were all flatmates. The dead man had bruises on his body and face, police were quoted as saying. Police on Tuesday were questioning the three flatmates on what happened.

And the police strongly suspect he died of suicide or natural causes.

possible suicide eh? jeez, I'd have to rule that out too, that's almost unheard of here.

Flatmates?? Room mates?? Why?? Most Japanese never live with others like this, it all sounds very strange.

@Elbuda Mexicano: The article doesn't specify their nationalities, they might not be Japanese.

Poor lad, got picked on, beaten up and ultimately killed by his "friends".

I've heard the policy is not to open a homicide investigation unless it's fairly obvious who the perpetrator is. This is the reason the statistics for crimes solved look so good. Man hours too would be spent more efficiently I suppose.
