Police in Fussa, Tokyo, said Friday they are investigating the murder of a 38-year-old man whose body was found in his apartment, with his head wrapped in a plastic bag and part of his facial skin peeled off.
According to police, the man's 28-year-old adopted son made the grisly discovery at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and called 119, Fuji TV reported. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the dead man, identified as Yoshi Tsuchida, lying face up, his face covered in blood.
The son was quoted by police as saying he returned home at around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday and that Tsuchida came home soon after that. He told police he talked with Tsuchida for a bit and then went to bed. He said that when he awoke, he found Tsuchida dead.
Police said that besides the face mutilation, there were no other signs of external injury on the victim's body.
There have been a few reports made to police this year after neighbors heard someone yelling coming from the apartment, media reported. Also, police visited the apartment one month ago after the two men reportedly had a fight.
An acquaintance of Tsuchida said the two men had been dating and because they were unable to marry, Tsuchida decided to adopt the 28-year-old. Police said Tsuchida was a former woman who had undergone a sex change operation and that the adopted son was taking female hormone injections.© Japan Today
