Police in Fussa, Tokyo, said Friday they are investigating the murder of a 38-year-old man whose body was found in his apartment, with his head wrapped in a plastic bag and part of his facial skin peeled off.

According to police, the man's 28-year-old adopted son made the grisly discovery at around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday and called 119, Fuji TV reported. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the dead man, identified as Yoshi Tsuchida, lying face up, his face covered in blood.

The son was quoted by police as saying he returned home at around 5:30 a.m. on Thursday and that Tsuchida came home soon after that. He told police he talked with Tsuchida for a bit and then went to bed. He said that when he awoke, he found Tsuchida dead.

Police said that besides the face mutilation, there were no other signs of external injury on the victim's body.

There have been a few reports made to police this year after neighbors heard someone yelling coming from the apartment, media reported. Also, police visited the apartment one month ago after the two men reportedly had a fight.

An acquaintance of Tsuchida said the two men had been dating and because they were unable to marry, Tsuchida decided to adopt the 28-year-old. Police said Tsuchida was a former woman who had undergone a sex change operation and that the adopted son was taking female hormone injections.

"The two men had been dating and because they were unable to marry, Tsuchida decided to adopt the 28-year-old. Police said Tsuchida was a former woman who had undergone a sex change operation and that the adopted son was taking female hormone injections."

This is better than any book.....

The adoption is the only alternative to marriage - it's the only way a same-sex couple can have legal rights within their relationship, re. inheritance, hospital visitation etc. Not such an oddity here.

The facial mutilation also seems like the killer was making plans to disguise the identity of the body, so that after it's been disposed of, it would be much harder to identify if found. If it was the partner, I wonder what made him decide to call the police?

The 38 yr old man could really be dead or that he's alive somewhere less the worrisome loans if ever and that someone else's cadaver was put instead. Some DNA check is needed for verification.

the man’s 28-year-old adopted son made the grisly discovery, the fact that he was adopted adds what to this story exactly?

I have been watching this on the news for TWO DAYS and thought maybe it was just too gruesome to appear on JT. It's the kind of story that makes to think you must have made a mistake with your Japanese. You think that can't be right. Then you check the kanji, and you realize that it IS what they're saying. And then you think...

Welcome to Japan everyone!!! ;-)

"a 38-year-old man... the man’s 28-year-old adopted son"

There is a major problem right there...

"There have been a few reports made to police this year after neighbors heard someone yelling coming from the apartment, media reported. Also, police visited the apartment one month ago after the two men reportedly had a fight. "

Confirmed!

"An acquaintance of Tsuchida said the two men had been dating and because they were unable to marry, Tsuchida decided to adopt the 28-year-old."

Confirmed again!

"I'll bet the "son" has something to do with this grisly murder.

he talked with Tsuchida for a bit and then went to bed. He said that when he awoke, he found Tsuchida dead.

So during his sleep, his boyfriends face was mutilated and he didnt wake up to any sound? Weird story.

Wow, whole lot of layers to this story. Not even sure what to say beyond RIP.

One of those truth is stranger than fiction stories.

Yes so the fight was between Tsuchida and his adopted son, wasn't it?

This sounds like a reenactment of part of the Hannibal Lecter story - the description by the chap with no face of how he ended up that way. Didn't expect it to happen in real life, though.

Also, police visited the apartment one month ago after the two men reportedly had a fight.

up until this point in the story, the only two men mentioned, were Tsuchida and his adopted son.

Really confusing and sloppily written peice.

2 ( +3 / -1 )

it's being reported that the murdered man was transgender and went through sex reassignment surgery. and that the "son" was also injecting himself with female hormones. just when you thought it couldn't get any weirder.

3 ( +6 / -3 )

This whole story is grisly to say the least.

An acquaintance of Tsuchida said the two men had been dating and because they were unable to marry, Tsuchida decided to adopt the 28-year-old.

Lovers spat or death by sexual misadventure?
