Tragic for the girl.
Enjoy your 12-year stretch.

I say the slimebag should serve at least 30 years.
Do the hustle
12 years? This creep should spend the rest of his life in jail and die there. He destroyed this young girl’s life and she will never fully recover from the emotional scars left by this creep, but he gets 12 years and will be out of jail in his mid-30’s. It definitely does not seem like a punishment befitting the crime.

How does this even make any sense? It doesn’t change the fact that he abducted her.
First of all, she was a young girl and was probably incredibly scared. Holding someone against their will for 2 years is something that someone sadistic and monstrous would do. Just holding someone against their will takes a sick mind for them to believe they have the right to force someone to bend to their will.

"Terauchi slashed his throat with a box cutter in an apparent suicide attempt"
In some special cases, the emergency services do not really have to hurry that much. You know, wait until the creep is beyond recovery, then throw him into the ambulance

Again, Japan handing out light sentences for the most vicious and heinous crimes while smoking pot will have the whole house of bricks come down on you. This innocent girl will be scarred for her entire life! Where is the respect for her dignity?
And the statement below pretty much discredits the lower court's ridiculous justification about the window being unlocked:
I would be very surprised if this girl was not sexually abused also, but the courts would probably see that as her fault anyway...

So they should have played detective (to figure out that he is guilty), judge (to determine him guilty) and executioner (to let him die)?
That's a lot of pressure on paramedics.

Naw, he was trying to take the easy way out. He deserves to suffer for this.

I strongly disagree. Judging is not the job of anyone but the courts. I wonder if the EMT's even knew the extent of this guy's crimes at the time. That kind of attitude puts emergency workers at risk of attack by those who feel as you do. Don't blame them for doing their job.

2 years should equal 20 years. 2x10.

It befuddles the mind. Haven't there been less jail time given for murderers in recent cases? People who murder should automatically get life in prison (unless in self defense). There should be some 'reward' for not taking the life of a human. Perhaps 5 years per day of abucted time of the victim..?

So...he might do it again in his 40s.....
