Police in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture, have arrested a 24-year-old man and his 16-year-old girlfriend after they forcefully made his 2-year-old son smoke a cigarette.
According to police, Shun Habuchi, an unemployed resident of Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture, and his 16-year-old girlfriend who cannot be named because she is a minor, are believed to have made Habuchi's son smoke a cigarette on Nov 11, Fuji TV reported.
They used a smartphone to film making the boy smoke a lit cigarette and posted it on Habuchi's Facebook account the next day.
Police said the couple, who have been charged with child abuse, have admitted to the charge and were quoted by police as saying they did it for fun. They also said they had given the boy a lit cigarette many times.
Police said Habuchi and the girl met on Facebook and started dating in early November. They are currently living in a house with the girl's older brother and her mother.
Police said the 2-year-old boy has been taken to a child welfare center.

They say they did it for fun. I don't know what would think that these two are bullies. Praying on the week of innocence. This is more than just disturbing.

This is tragic and reminds me in a way what my father did to my brother when he was caught smoking by my father when he was 12. My father made him smoke a whole pack of cigarettes in front of him. I suppose it was done to make my brother possibly feel sick and never smoke again. However, my brother ended up smoking up to four packs a day until he finally had to quit or die after a triple bypass surgery some 58 years later. but a two year old child .... SAD!

Trash.

You would think that the girl's mother would probably be a bit older than the 24 yr. old boyfriend and be more of an "adult" in the house and kicked him out for screwing a 16 yr. old. But I suspect that mom and the boyfriend probably had something going on too, and letting him do this to the kid, as well as living with a 16 yr. old and the other son is just the price she is willing to pay to have a "man" in the house.
If the other child (her brother) is under age, he too should be moved out. This guy is a loser all around and needs to get a job.

So by the downvotes I guess people want the kid to stay with this pair? Do we not want the boy away from his ass of a father?

I've got two daughters and I'm glad that there are very few sixteen y.o. girls in Japan that dress like that or hang out with dodgy 24 y.o men. If anything, this sounds like a UK story from the Daily Mail.
I would be a bit more forgiving of this as an idiotic prank staged by aho parents if they hadn't admitting to doing it several times. As it is, all I can say is "poor kid".

To quote Keanu Reeves' character Tod in "Parents":
"[Y]ou need a license to buy a dog, to drive a car - hell, you even need a license to catch a fish. But they'll let any butt-reaming a$$hole be a father."
Truer words were ne'er spoken.

What an abomination

At least their stupidity brought the incident to the public's eye and the kid taken into welfare. God knows what would of happened if the kid didn't get taken into welfare in time.
Saw some picture of the couple. My god, for a 16 year old she looks well rough. Both enough to give some U.K council estate couples a run for their money.

And the mad morning wake up story prize goes to.....

Unbelievable.

Yeah, the kid doesn't know the difference between は and わ. He was writing 「俺わ。。。」. While that's only one tiny thing, the overall picture of this kid is that he isn't really fit to be a parent.

This guy and his teenage girlfriend sound like real trash. That kid deserves a second chance in a better home. Growing up with a dad like that will just be awful.
NathalieB
I saw this on Facebook too, and read the comments and his comments pleading with people not to go to the police. I assumed he actually wasn't Japanese based on his terrible writing. It was horrible to watch.
GrungeHamster
It's a good thing this man and girl have what appears to be half a brain so the kid could be pulled away from these circumstances and may now have a chance.
azukaya
It's something stupid, but I guess exceptional. I don't see good involving police in the private life of a family.

Here is a link to a Japanese news source containing the video and some photos of the three: http://breaking-news.jp/2015/11/17/021934

Please put that child in a better home!

"Police said Habuchi and the girl met on Facebook and started dating in early November. They are currently living in a house with the girl’s older brother and her mother." Yeah, this will last. Poor kid.

Wow. Really?? Reminds me of the scene from "Four Rooms" (Q. Tarantino flick) when Antonio Banderas and his (half-Japanese) son were sharing a cigarette in their hotel room.
DaDude
and the fact that they posted it on Facebook like it is no big thing shows what kind of fools we are dealing with here.
TheGodfather
Legally, not being eighteen, she is still technically a minor so you will need to fill in the details yourself...

We can only hope to be content at any age. :P
James Messner
Isn't 16 the age on content in Japan?

Well spotted! You will need to look at ALTERNATIVE (native) NEWS to find out that Habuchi "took his eldest son from his home in Tochigi [and] had been missing"
Not in Japan, but in other countries, PARENTAL KIDNAPPING is a crime because it is CHILD ABUSE, and this story shows why.
Well done to the Facebook friends for reporting it!!!
nath
You're right, I didn't see that.

defo trailer trash, lucky the kid was taken away and has a better chance growing up

Please look again

@Wakarimasen
Please read the blog carefully. I am only providing background information and explaining how unhealthy and dangerous second hand smoke is so if second hand smoking is highly toxic and that bad imagine what happens when a irresponsible, immature pathetic childish adult forces a two year baby to actually smoke a cigarette. It is worse.
TheGodfather
Thanks for the additional reporting!!
Disillusioned
So, this little NEET punk brought his two year old kid along to live with his underaged girlfriend's family? He then went on to give the smokes many times and gawd knows what other kinds of abuse this kid has been put through. The term 'trailer trash' springs to mind. I'm glad the little kid has been removed from the house, but I have no doubt he will soon be back there, sadly.
nath
In addition to what? The article doesn't state what he has or hasn't been charged with.
Wakarimasen
novenachama - this wasn't second hand smoke. This is wrong on so many levels, but can't be blamed on secondhand smoke.
Mirai Hayashi
Statutory rape, child molestation, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, child abuse,....need I say more? why aren't these also charged?
Novenachama
Second hand smoke has hundreds of toxins, carcinogens and cancer causing chemicals like formaldehyde, benzene, arsenic ammonia and hydrogen cyanide etc. A two year old baby has tiny bodies, tiny lungs, and breathes rapidly. All these things increase how smoke can affect them.Second hand smoke is also responsible for low respiratory tract infection and puts children at risk for health problems. Can you imagine giving a cigarette to your two-year old baby?
nath
We don't know if the child was born in or out of wedlock, all we know is that the father wasn't with the mother. He may still be married to the mother for all we know, or he may be divorced, or may never have been married to her. The article doesn't go into it.
khulifi
Since they are smokers .. the child certainly a passive smoker whether they force him or not .... what an ugly family are they ...
sakurala
I saw this on facebook and was disguisted by it. I was also shocked when the parents were saying that people shouldn't get angry about it and then took it down when they saw people were already sharing it in a bit to get them caught. Just disgraceful. Also it looked like the poor buy had burn marks on his face :(
nakanoguy01
24 y.o. man, with a 2 y.o. son, dating a 16 y.o. girl, and they live with her mother and brother?!?!?! seriously, just neuter them all (besides the kid). they don't deserve to breed any more.
Stewart Gale
What's the girl's mother thinking about, letting her 2nd year high school aged daughter bring an unemployed loser 8 years her senior into the family home? I guess they are all a load of rubbish. Pity the poor child.
nath
I saw this on the news this morning. Poor kid was choking a little too. Someone must have said something to the data, because he posted 'please don't tell the police' a few times after he originally posted the video.
...someone told the police.
smithinjapan
This is sick on a number of levels. Take the kid from his father, quick! Not much you can do about the sixteen year old, but hopefully she gives her head a shake and learns from it herself.
nidu
This bf/gf kind of relationships are not only hazardous for the couple, their family and the society but also end up in a negative upbringing of the children who are born out of the wedlock.
Aly Rustom
On so many levels: 1. giving a 2 year old a cig on MORE than one occasion. That and a 24 year old man is dating a 16 year old girl. I wonder if he'll get charged for that.
SenseNotSoCommon
Tochigi and Nagoya ain't that close. What sort of Chimpira is this cretin?
descendent
Innocent kid who unfortunately lost out in the parent lottery.

This is pretty disturbing.
