AA 33-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly killing his 29-year-old brother at their home in Kyoto's Fushimi Ward on Wednesday, police said.

Police said they received an emergency call at around 1:20 p.m. in which the caller said, "Two brothers have had a fight and one of them has been killed." Police rushed to the scene to find Hideaki Takahashi, 29, lying on the floor near the front door, bleeding from a stab wound to his chest. Takahashi was taken to hospital where he died around nine hours later.

Takahashi's older brother Yusuke, 33, who helps their father run the family business, was arrested in connection with his brother's death.

According to police, Yusuke allegedly stabbed his brother with a 20-inch survival knife. Yusuke, who made the call to police, was quoted as saying that he killed his brother "over family matters."

All too common in Japan!

Well it looks like Dad will be working alone for the rest of his life. RIP

There should be a law in Japan where kids got to move out of their parents house once they're older then 21. Living at home too long must cause resentment or something, because too many family members are killing each other. Just my theory.

No way that would happen, its too much a part of Japanese culture and plus have you seen the economy.

Father to son, and now brother to brother. Another sad day.

I have a feeling this will someday be my (in laws) cousin and aunt. My cousin is 40 still lives at home, no job, and spends all my uncle's life insurance money on her boyfriends and gas. My aunt says "I can't control her." So I can see it coming some day sad to say, when mom won't give her any more money.

Is very sad. I've had the occasion when fighting with a sibling, where I just saw red for a moment, and had there been a knife nearby, I would have used it. I love all my siblings, but sometimes, especially with siblings who know all the buttons to push, it can be easy to lose your temper and do something you'll regret the rest of your life. I don't know if thats what happened here, but regardless its a very sad situation.

IT's a crime of passion- if he's remorseful - which I'm sure he sorta is - he'll be out in a few years. But having a murderer on your family registry can be problematic for marriage - renders the family somewhat "untouchable".
