Man hits woman with car in front of 10 police officers

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man in Okayama for the attempted murder of a 37-year-old woman after he allegedly drove his car at the woman in front of 10 police officers.

According to police, the man, who has been named as Takayuki Yamaji, was called to a convenience store car park shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday morning by his girlfriend, who had apparently become involved in an altercation with three other women, TBS reported.

Police say that 10 officers had been called to the scene due to the scuffle, and were trying to bring the situation under control when Yamaji deliberately drove his car into one of the women.

A police spokesperson said the victim sustained minor injuries to her legs.

Oh joy ... what are these women doing at the convenience store at 3 in the morning anyways?

Yup! Yes sir, this situation with 10 idiot COPS sounds real under control! (Not!!)

Remember guys: Japan is a safe country! The meeting's place and time are quite suspicious. The youngster's behaviour was really extremely stupid. He should be jailed to protect him from himself.

That reminds me that I saw two bousouzoku on a bike (in Tsukuba) Saturday driving loudly, on the wrong lane (the other lane was blocked by cars), speeding up just in front of a police car waiting for something. Since the police blocked their way, they switched to the sidewalk and continued there. It took the police about ten seconds before they reacted at all and started to turn around for pursuit.

Needless to say, the two got away. I have the very strong impression that (many) Japanese people respect J cops even less than some of us foreigners. How did the cops screw up so much to become the clowns of the nation?

Ten cops couldn't stop four broads fighting, lol!!!

Got to ask.

What should have the cops done to prevent that crime/Incident? Any cop called to a scene 1st need to identify parties, etc(aka victim/s and aggressor/s from accounts given).

And I guess most people here got experiences better than the cops and how to fight multiple opponents (women are tougher and fiercer).

Pls, elaborate.

What was the scuffle about and was it so serious that someone would want to hit someone with a car? I doubt it. That dude is an idiot.

Women were fighting in the parking lot of a convenience store at 3AM. The police reponded to a call for help, arrived in force, and were working to stop the fight. Out of nowhere, this idiot 20-year-old comes barreling in with his car to try and kill one of the women involved in the fighting.

How anyone here could take this as an opportunity to malign the police with these TRULY tired and boring "keystone kops" comments is a mystery. Get a new schtick, people.

Yeah, yeah, we get it already, for Pete's sake: You don't think Japanese police are a) tough enough, b) mean enough c) competent enough compared to the cops in your home country. We get it already.

But don't take a situation that has absolutely nothing to do with the above criticsms and try to make any of this sound like the fault of the police in this situation.

So 10 officers were just focusing on the women and not the guy? Typical J-cops, they probably wanted to have a show with females fighting each other.

Man hits woman with car in front of 10 police officers

That's one strong man.

I agree, some of the criticism of the Jpolice is just getting old, anything with the words "police" in it tends to get keystone comments for the heck of it. Seriously, how could they have predicted a guy coming up in a car out of nowhere and ramming into one of a girl? No more then they could of prevented a guy coming out of nowhere on a motorbike crashing into one lady or a freak lighting bolt coming out of the sky on a clear night.

Russian Satellite crashed into the pacific, must be the police's fault too.

Why are people trash talking the cops here? Nothing they could have done to prevent this. As to asking why women were at a conbini at 3am, is there a law that says they can't be? Is it okay for men but not women? Probably a bunch of drunks girls who got into a fight. You'd find that back home in our countries at 3am. Sadly.

Wow..any witnesses ??

Did anyone call the police?

0 ( +2 / -2 )

I honestly think the JT-Posters should take over from the cops(keystones). Why, they got ALL the answers and know best to do the policing and can do better.

Any takers?

For a reality check those 10 cops could have been marines, overseas cops, etc and it would still have happened.

I'll stand by my woman every time!! Chivalry is alive and well!!

I am sure some really bad and dumb posts have been deleted, so I give LFRAgain a thumbs up. But I think its worth noting that so many people whose posts remain realize that the police aren't to blame. So I don't think its fair to slam JT posters in general. A few complete morons don't represent JT. Not going to call this a pack of geniuses here, but most seem to have a clue in this case.

Ten cops couldn't stop four broads fighting, lol!!! .............................

give the J.cops a break, if they broke up the fight, they would be accused of groping !!

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Did the police do anything or did they just stand and watchand do nothing like they usually do?

-4 ( +2 / -6 )

Did the police do anything or did they just stand and watch...

Unless they had superpowers there was no way they (or anyone) could have not prevented this.

I would think the 10 Police Officers investiating the disturbance, never in their wildest dreams, expected this 20 year old nut to climb into his vehicle and drive it intentionaly at the lady. This guy had decided on his own form of injustice. The officers had responded appropriately to the emergency call and would probabley have brought the situation under control except for the lunatics interferience. I hope the lady he hit with the car, recovers from her injuries quickly and that the Japanese justice system prosecutes the offender to the full extent of Japanese law

@marcelito......

Sounds like hostess / chimpira crowd involved in this one..

NO DOUBT.

dang j police sure do take alot of slack, but then again they do have a bad reputation lol ...but on a more serious case, thats alot of police members for just a small scuffle at night must really have been a boring night for em or theres more than going on than this article implies at that scuffle one of em prolly had a weapon or something

Any wagers on how long his girlfriend will wait for him while he sits in prison?

@LFRAgain....

There is no where in the article that states the guy came "barreling" in you know. One could safely assume that if he had the injuries would have been much more serious.

But don't take a situation that has absolutely nothing to do with the above criticsms and try to make any of this sound like the fault of the police in this situation.

How about taking your own advice? Don't exaggerate the situation.

Bwahahahahha! He said 'arrived in force.' I don't care who many police arrive anywhare in Japan, they don't come in 'force'.

-2 ( +1 / -3 )

Whatever the altercation, they must've pissed this girl off enough to anger the boyfriend to run her ass over! CRAZY!

And yeah...J-cops are definitely not respected by the locals.

Yubaru,

"How about taking your own advice? Don't exaggerate the situation."

It wasn't advice. It was an admonition -- One that made no mention of exaggeration, real or imagined. You're barking up the wrong tree here.
