Man in his 80s in coma after hit-and-run incident in Tokyo

A man in his 80s remained in a coma on Saturday after a hit-and-run incident in Tokyo’s Setagaya Ward.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 7 p.m. Friday on a highway in Ikejiri. Fuji TV reported that a passerby saw the man lying on the road and contacted police.

The man was taken to hospital and has not yet regained consciousness, police said.

Police said there was an impression on the man’s body that looked to have been made by a car tire, and they are examining street surveillance camera footage to try and identify the vehicle that hit the man.
