Man in his 80s robbed by intruder at home

A man in his 80s was robbed by a man who broke into his house in Tokyo on Saturday morning.

According to police, the incident occurred at around 5:30 a.m. at the man’s house in Katsushika Ward, Fuji TV reported. The victim told police he was sleeping when he was awakened by a man who demanded money. 

The intruder took a wallet containing about 60,000 yen, then bound the man’s arms with duct tape before fleeing. The victim was able to free himself and call 110.

Do they not have door locks there?

I hear that many elderly people still do not lock their doors. Time to do it, I guess.

That is because there was once a time (not all that long ago) when this sort of thing was unheard of in Japan.

Sure looks like someone he met recently, take your time and make a list of the people he met including places he went to incl. conveni. stores drug stores super market, barber shop, clinics, pharmacy, and so on, some has seen that cash in his wallet.

It is very fortunate the victim was not hurt seriously in the robbery. I hope the criminal is caught soon before he causes a bigger tragedy

You know that you're generally in a pretty safe country when the headlining crime article is of a home robbery and $600 is stolen.

I’m also guilty of not locking my door most of the time. Guess originally coming from another safety country also helps. We hardly locked doors back home either.
