The evidence is clear and obvious, why waste tax payer's money on a lengthy trial?

Ahh, now we have posters claiming we don't even need the due process of law.
That bodes well for the citizens of a country. Sacrifice the rights of the people in order to save a few bucks.

I am all for due process, but when someone has already admitted to the crimes - what purpose or satisfaction do we get by dragging this through the process (the process is used to determine innocence or guilt)?

By adding that 'but', you show you are not all for due process, since you actually argue against it in the rest of your post.
So I think it would be more accurate had you started that statement with I'm not all for due process because...

Good thing he only had rope, a chopper and a saw. Imagine if he'd had a "weapon."
Everyone deserves due process. For all we know, the confessions were under duress. If the evidence is clear and obvious, then showing it shouldn't take THAT long when a life is at stake.

the def of due process: fair treatment through the normal judicial system, especially a citizen's entitlement to notice of a charge and a hearing before an impartial judge.
how is due process not being served if the defendent has stated that he wants to end the trial as soon as possible? a lengthy trial will do nothing but cause pain for the families of the victims. if there is incontrovertible evidence and a confession, then just sentence him and get it over with.

Well if the guy pleads guilty and cooperates with prosecution then it seems like it would be over quickly, but who knows. He'll probably be heavily punished regardless.

Although the prosecutor has actus rea, I think that they are trying to determineens rea.
To get a criminal conviction, both are required.

Are you serious. Everyone accused of a crime is entitled to due process.

There is nothing wrong with Dman112's post. It's normal conversational English.
